Bazzamf I'm planning to do my own oil change this year on my 200ps petrol engine. I know the oil filter is located somewhere on the top of the engine, but after a good look around under the bonnet I can't see where it is. Can someone give me a clue where to look. #1 · Jan 20, 2022 I'm planning to do my own oil change this year on my 200ps petrol engine. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Jan 20, 2022 It's under the plastic engine cover that you need to lift, to the left facing the car. #3 · Jan 20, 2022 It's a small black cylinder to the left front upper engine just under the plastic engine cover. #4 · Jan 20, 2022 Car Vehicle Automotive fuel system Motor vehicle Hood #5 · Jan 21, 2022 Mind and spin the filter off before you put the sump plug back in as oil will drain back into the sump thats in the filter housing #6 · Jan 21, 2022 Or alternately suck the oil out via the dipstick tube using an extractor such as the PELA. This is much more convenient than having to take off the engine undertray (20 bolts) to get at the sump plug and means the entire oil & filter change can be done from the top of the engine. #7 · Jan 22, 2022 Thank you chaps for the replies and advice. I'm fairly used to doing my own servicing on previous cars, where the oil filter was under the engine, so this is a new one on me. I must admit I was looking for an oil filter canister and is why I couldn't find it. Davejag's photo is perfect, so at least I know what the thing looks like now. My previous four services have been carried out by the dealer, so this will be my first attempt with the Jag. As I'm too old to get under the car nowadays, it will be the oil suction method for me. #8 · Jan 22, 2022 It's a doddle with a pump. If you are using a Pela Pump repressurise it regularly to speed up the drain. Filter off first to allow the canister to empty to the sump. #9 · Jan 23, 2022 I change oil with a pump, easy job.
