My wife picked up her first road bike in 15 years today. Well, it's almost road, she does not like drop bars so it is a flat bar bike. At least I got her to buy (i.e., bought) the top of the line version of the model, the Specialized Sirrus 6.0 with good brand name (if heavy) components [105 drive train, DT Swiss wheels, Praxis Works chainset]. Even though it is a carbon frame in the smallest size (XS), it's 9.41 kg out of the box, including (sigh) the plastic reflectors in the spokes I finally convinced her to ditch. It's a good reminder that we're out of the ordinary, that most real world cyclists aren't riding UCI-challenging weights. Anyway, the bike had a sticker stating the country in which it was made. I had never seen or heard that (Specialized) bikes were made there. Any guesses? I'll give the answer later. Good luck. First guess = Vietnam. Second = Somewhere in Europe like the Netherlands or maybe Eastern Europe like Romania or something. Top online Ypuh Posts: 694 Joined: Sun Dec 08, 2019 10:20 pm Location: The Netherlands

Don't think any carbon or sportive bikes are made in the Netherlands. My guess is also eastern Europe Romania or Poland and otherwise Cambodja. Pure guesses though, so I'm interested in the result (and will be unsatisfied if it ends up being China/Taiwan or Thailand, haha). I thought it was Taiwan (like Merida) and China. I would not think they have the production in only one Country. Recently I have read that BMC was producing in Poland, not sure if this is true.... Back home in usa? Id be surprised if an eu assembly rather than asia would ellicit a riddle thread. Other than this, eastern europe is already importing thousands and thousands of asian workers so despite the label it might still be assembled in the far east :))) Top online Swannie Posts: 427 Joined: Thu Jan 11, 2007 3:48 pm Location: Belgium Contact: Contact Swannie Website

Is there an issue? Unless its Carbon brands have factory supplier everywhere. It is not un common to see alloy bikes made in Vietnam or Indonesia. Top online Aeo Posts: 918 Joined: Wed May 25, 2016 2:06 am

No one has said there’s any issue, just that there may be a surprising answer for this carbon frame Top online ome rodriguez Posts: 1520 Joined: Fri Feb 24, 2006 9:16 am

I'd go Vietnam as well. Lots of brands have their bikes put together in the Netherlands but I doubt anyone makes mass market frames there. Top online
