Welcome to the Where the Stone Falls page for the official IGN Wiki Guide and Walkthrough for Assassin's Creed Valhalla on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Here, we'll break down everything you need to know about Where the Stone Falls, including who to select as the next Ealdorman for Lincolnscire: Hunwald, Aelfgar, or Herefrith.

Note: Aeldorman is the old-English spelling for the word Alderman -- a nobleman who heads up a shire for a king or ruling official. Later, it became the designation for the elected member of a city, county, or borough council. 

This is the quest given to you upon completing both Salve for a Fresh Wound and The Thegn of Lincoln. This quest can be found in Lincoln, Lincolnscire, right by the town's synchronization.

When you arrive to the teal objective marker, speak to Acha.

Who Should You Select As Ealdorman of Lincoln, Lincolnscire?

Tell her you're ready to attend the Shiremoot. A cutscene will begin. After this, speak to everyone in the building to help you determine the best choice for the new Ealdorman.

Your choice of Ealdorman has a permanent impact on the rest of the game, but the differences aren't major. SPOILERS below on what will happen for each one of your choices. 

Should You Choose Hunwald, Herefrith, or Aelfgar?

There is one "wrong" choice -- and two right ones. Each causes a minor change to the world going forward. Walk up to the table with the three documents and bowls. You get a chance to consider your choice when reading the text for each option.

• Hunwald: Many players may consider him to be the right choice as he's been the focus of the story. But he obviously has his weaknesses. Most notably, if you choose him, the bad guy will be revealed, Hunwald will prove himself and walk the footsteps of his father, Hundbeorht. This choice will lead to a castle siege at Anecastre that brings a secret member of the Order to justice. After the quest, Hunwald becomes leader and Swanburrow moves to Ravensthorpe. 
• Aelfgar: Aelfgar obviously tried really hard to convince you that he's a capable fighter and hunter, and that may have put you off him... However, choosing him is also a "right" choice. Pick him and the result is that both Hunwald and his Danish sweetheart move to Ravensthorpe. The rest of the mission plays identically to the first choice.
• Herefrith:This is the wrong choice, in case you haven't guessed it by the badly hidden silhouette in your secret Order member gallery. Choose Herefrith and the quest immediately ends here. However, since Herefrith is a member of the Order, you will have find him later and assassinate him. 

We cast our vote for Hunwald as he's been with us throughout this storyline and has a lot of heart. Choose whomever you want, of course, but pay attention to the bullet points above as this decision could drastically affect your story.

If you didn't chose Bishop Herefith, you'll soon learn he's a member of the Order of the Ancients and will attempt to throw a coup. Time for a fight.
