In Pokemon Soul Silver, it is possible to find Magmar in both the Safari Zone and the Burned Tower. He is rare in both locations with a 10 per cent chance of finding him in the Safari Zone and a five per cent chance of finding him in the Burned Tower.

Magmar is a fire type Pokemon that evolves from Magby starting at level 30. When traded holding a Magmarizer, Magmar can be evolved into Magmortar. The Pokemon has a human like stance and has traits of a mythical salamander and a duck. It has a red body with a yellow flame design. Magmar has black legs, yellow thighs and red feet with two toes on each. Its arms are covered in red scales and its red hands have five fingers. There is a row of red spikes running down its back and two lumps on its forehead. These lumps have a flame on the top of each one and the Pokemon also has a yellow beak. There are no differences between the genders of a Magmar and it prefers environments that are very hot. It is able to survive these extreme conditions, for example lava in a volcano. Magmar has the special abilities to spit powerful flames from its mouth that can incinerate nearly all of its surroundings. It has the ability to create smoke based attacks such as Smog and Lava Plume as well as use physical attacks such as Mega Punch, Fire Punch and Cross Chop. Although not fully evolved, Magmar can use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact. One of Magmar’s unique behavioural traits is that when faced with an environment that it finds too cold, the Pokemon will spew out flames to warm up the surrounding area. According to Giovanni in the game, Magmar is savage and intelligent.when looking for him int he safari zone, if you dont find him the second time for a while, go look for another rare pokemon, then come back after a couple minutes, then you should get your second chance

Magmar can be found in the safari zone during both the morning and during the day, but not at night, in the 'Peak' area. It is rare so it is a real pain to catch him I suggest using mud first then ball then bait then ball. Start the sequence over until it works. I weakened it until it has low HP but then I ran out of pokeballs- I was forced to kill him.It was out of luck. With a few steps and bam a magmar appears. Anonymous Profile Anonymous answered You go to the bottom of Burned tower and look near the left hand side and if that dosen`t work and if you`re extremely lucky and you smash a rock you can get a poke doll that attracts fire and water type pokemon.
