In total, there are 16 legendary animals in Red Dead Redemption 2. Hunting these animals can be a challenge, but you will be rewarded with legendary pelts once you complete the task.

You will be able to hunt legendary animals once you are given a map by Hosea outlining their locations.

The alligator can be found on the banks of Lake Lagras, as shown on the map below.

Once you have arrived at your destination, you will be notified that you have entered 'legendary animal territory'. For here, enter detective mode by pressing down the left and right analog sticks.

You should find clues that will lead you to the alligator's whereabouts. You will likely discover three clues in total.

Once you spot the beast, get ready for a battle. Getting too close to the animal is suicide, so you are best off sticking to long range weapons.

A sniper should be your weapon of choice, as this will allow you to inflict damage on the alligator without coming into close contact with it. If you can avoid being spotted, you should be able to finish off the hunt fairly easily.

Once the kill is confirmed, simply go up to the carcass and claim your prize. Legendary animal pelts are pretty cool in the game, so simply skin the animal to finish the job.
