Where To Recycle Those Packing Peanuts - The Seattle Times

Have you got a big box in your basement filled with packing peanuts that you hate to throw out?

Many businesses that handle mailing and shipping services will take polystyrene packing material — known as packing peanuts — off your hands and reuse them, says Tom Watson, project manager for recycling and services in King County’s solid waste division. Go to www.loosefillpackaging.com to find a collection center near you.

You can also call the “Peanut Hotline” at 800-828-2214 for the same list, or ask at your neighborhood shipping store. Many businesses not on this list will take the peanuts and reuse them.
