I sincerely reckon Mykonos was half the reason for the Euro crisis.
How can anyone possibly work when the streets are like a tasty German fairy-tale, and the beaches are more attractive than an entire cast of Too Hot to Handle?
Mykonos is surely a source of economic ruin.
However, their hospitality industry seems to run fine, and there is a wide ranging collection of Cycladic homes, private pools, and patches of dirty heather (hello backpackers) available.
But which ones are the best?!?!?
In my FRANKLY UNFAIR guide to where to stay in Mykonos, the top gorgeous homes, stylish apartments and grubby grasslands are ready for your inspection…
Let’s rock.

Where to Stay in Mykonos
Mykonos is a shining, expensive gem of the Greek Isles. It attracts fashionable couples, adventurous families, and a string of slightly stale people backpacking through Greece. Inevitably.
Here are my top 3 picks (OF ALL TIME) of places to stay in Mykonos. Enjoy 🙂
Cycladic House #InTheHeartOfMykonos | Best Airbnb in Mykonos

Location, location, location they say, and they are completely correct. Relax in a beautiful lower-shrouded patio with a glass of vino, explore the stunning white walled streets of the local neighborhood, and head out to a seaview restaurant whenever it suits. This Airbnb is owned by an artist, and it shows!

The best hostel in Mykonos is kind of also the only hostel in Mykonos (although we still have a Mykonos hostel guide for some reason). With funky architecture and design, your stay will not only be budget-friendly, but it will be a unique experience that you will rave about for many years. Rooftop terrace parties people?
There is a pretty awesome pool and bar on-site, and they rent ATV’s downstairs!

CHECK TOP AIRBNB CHECK TOP HOTELMykonos is a popular and luxurious island in the Cyclades group of the Greek Islands. It is set in the stunning Aegean Sea and is famous for its whitewashed buildings, mind-blowing beaches and its fresh and delicious food.
A cosmopolitan travel destination, Mykonos attracts travellers looking for a luxury vacation where they can lounge on its golden sandy beaches, swim in its glistening turquoise waters, and enjoy some of the liveliest nightlife at the beach clubs.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for the backpackers, though! As one of the best places to visit in Greece, Mykonos is also home to a healthy number of budget stays too.
If it’s your first time visiting Mykonos, I recommend staying in the Old Port neighborhood. It’s quintessentially Greek, with whitewashed buildings and incredible sunsets, but it is also centrally located near some of the best attractions. Plus, you can find some less expensive accommodation options if you’re backpacking Greece on a budget.

Mykonos’s 5 Best Neighborhoods to Stay in
Mykonos is pretty perfect all year round. While visiting in the ‘off season’ can feel a little quiet, your bank balance and sun tan will sincerely thank you.
And while timing your trip is important, so is finding the perfect abode! Here are the top neighborhoods of Mykonos, the best things to do, and fittest places to stay.
#1 Old Port of Mykonos – Where to Stay in Mykonos for Your First Time
The Old Port is my number one pick for the best neighborhood to stay in Mykonos if you’re visiting for the first time.
The centrepiece of lively and vibrant Mykonos Town, the Old Port is where you’ll find the island’s most famous attractions. From whitewashed buildings and windmills to restaurants, shops and kiosks, the Old Port is one of Mykonos’ best neighborhoods for checking the sights, sounds and tastes of Mykonos off your bucket list.

The Old Port is also the best neighborhood in Mykonos to stay in if you’re looking to do a little island hopping. From here you can board a ferry and be whisked off to Delos, Naxos, or even faraway Athens (and it’s many things to do).
Bright and Relaxing loft | Best Airbnb in Old Port of Mykonos

There’s so much to see in Mykonos, which is why you want to stay as central as possible. Staying in this Airbnb means you’ll literally have attractions left and right. Go see the windmill, little Venice, the old port and much more – all within walking distance. However, your home is just as incredible. The loft is very welcoming, spacious and fantastically designed – you’ll enjoy every second.

While the rooms are comfortable, clean and could be equipped with a balcony (who knows?), the best feature is the location. You’ll be close to landmarks, restaurants, bakeries and even the Fabrika bus stop for getting around the Island. It may not be a luxury hotel, but it is still a great one…

Fall asleep watching the stars. Nope, I’m not talking about sleeping outside. This loft and its bedroom is truly unique. Instead of the ceiling, you’ll look straight through (safety) glass, up to the stars – now how cool is that! However, what’s also great is the location.
