You can arrive at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, check into any of the accommodations here and make it your primary residence for the duration of your trip. Most of the all inclusive resorts are situated in towns like Santiago de Puriscal, San Gerardo de Dota, Santa Ana and Escazu.
Downtown San Jose
Finding accommodations downtown San Jose is not usually a problem as there are plenty of hotels to be found here. This area is ideal if you want to explore the rest of the city as it provides convenient access to museums, restaurants, and shopping centers. Whether you require a small one room hotel, a vacation rental or a boutique suite, San Jose has it all. You can find a number of cheap hotels throughout Downtown San Jose, which are ideal if you are in the city for just a day and on a budget.
Just Outside of Downtown San Jose
If this part of San Jose gets too noisy for you then stay in Barrio Amón or Los Yoses, which are close enough to the downtown area but far away enough to ensure a good night’s sleep. If you are looking for some place more quiet then head into La Sabana, Escazu, Rohrmoser, San Pedro or San Antonio de Belen. These suburban areas are located just 15 to 20 minutes from downtown, but offer tourists with a more tranquil reprieve. Spacious and well maintained the vacation rentals in these San Jose suburbs range from the posh to the affordable.

There are also golf resorts in San Jose. Located in Santa Ana, one of the best golf resorts to play at is the Valley del Sol with its 18-hole par 72 course. If you are a more serious golfer then head on over to the Cariari Country Club and its beautiful 18-hole championship course located just outside of San Jose near the Juan Santamaria International Airport. Also, a great place for a business meeting and a quick game of golf is the Costa Rica Country Club, a short 9-hole course located in Escazu.
