"Grease" was a critical and box office success when it was released in 1978. The movie holds a "76% Certified Fresh" score on review-aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. It was even selected for preservation in the US National Film Registry in 2020.

After the movie's release, Travolta went on to star in films like "Urban Cowboy" and "Pulp Fiction." Meanwhile, Newton-John found continued success with her music career, including her 1981 double platinum album Physical. Newton-John passed away at the age of 73 on August 8.
