Comparing and contrasting characters by their enneagram types, Zodiac signs, and other personality trait markers is an interesting way to analyze them. Luckily, the cast of Chainsaw Man is so extensive that the main characters have all sixteen of the Myers-Briggs personality types covered, at least if Devils are also included.
Updated on January 30th, 2023 by Ajay Aravind: Chainsaw Man received some of the biggest anime hype in recent times. The complex storyline, detailed character arcs, riveting battle scenes, and delightful OST arguably makes it one of the most impressive shonen anime product of the 2020s. As such, we've taken the liberty of updating this list with a few extra pieces of information.
16 Aki Is Compassionate And Isn't Afraid To Express His Emotions
ISTJ
Aki serves as the typical shonen rival to Denji. Though he initially seems like an average edgy deuteragonist driven solely by revenge, Aki strays far from these classic archetypes. As an ISTJ, he's a person with lots of integrity and never breaks his promises.
Despite his stoic demeanor, Aki cares for his friends greatly and tries not to close himself off from others. He's compassionate and isn't afraid to express his emotions, especially when pushed. ISTJs aren't the flashiest individuals around, but they make their mark by cementing themselves as reliable friends, and everybody generally admires them.
15 Kobeni Frequently Falls Prey To Her Overwhelming Fears
ISFJ
Kobeni has a reputation for being rather cowardly, and she clearly doesn't handle stress well. She is overwhelmed by her own anxieties and will react in unpredictable ways to get herself out of a stressful situation — even sacrificing those around her if it lets her escape unscathed. However, Kobeni can occasionally be a strong fighter, and is unstoppable when she gets her fear under control

ISFJs tend to be perfectionists and strive to prove themselves. They get in their own heads frequently and fall prey to their fears — particularly in terms of sudden change. At their best, ISFJs genuinely live up to their title of "defenders" and prove themselves reliable allies.
14 Quanxi Can Be A Ruthless Warrior And Isn't Afraid To Get Her Hands Dirty
ISTP
Quanxi is a highly respected Devil Hunter from China, often called the First Devil Hunter. She keeps a harem of four fiends around her. Though they frequently throw themselves at her, Quanxi remains stolid and unexpressive. Despite being a Devil Hunter, she believes that fiends deserve the same rights as humans, even refusing to attack them.
ISTPs are called "virtuosos" and are recognized for their unique views on the world. Even if their opinions seem wildly radical or controversial, they'll disclose them. They aren't afraid to get dirty and, like Quanxi, can be ruthless warriors. They like to experiment and analyze their ideas through trial and error, and they aren't afraid of failure.
13 Angel Experiences New Things From A Unique Perspective
INTP
Angel is part-Devil, part-angel, and a skilled Devil Hunter. However, Angel believes he is a Devil above all else. He can coexist with humans, but he claims they should all die painful deaths. However, he understands that his existence is a contradiction. Though he claims to not care about humans, Angel becomes quite compassionate toward them throughout the story.
INTPs tend to get lost in their thoughts. Though they seem like daydreamers, INTPs can never entirely shut their minds down because they constantly think of new ideas. They're always curious about the world and experience new things from a unique perspective.
12 Himeno Challenges The Beliefs Of Those Around Her
ENTP
Himeno has loads of experience as a Devil Hunter and takes pride in guiding the recruits. She's outgoing and always keeps a cheerful attitude. Though she seems easygoing, Himeno has no qualms about calling a subordinate out for putting others at risk. She's also a ruthless fighter. However, she cares a lot about those around her and is quite empathetic.

ENTPs aren't afraid to push the envelope and challenge the beliefs of everybody around them. Because of their unique perspectives, ENTPs like Himeno make excellent mentors. Though ENTPs can seem insensitive, it's only because they'd rather call things how they see them instead of censoring themselves for the sake of others.
11 Makima Will Do Anything If It Means "Saving The World"
INTJ
Makima supposedly intends to use Chainsaw Man to "save the world." Ultimately, she wants to live with Pochita forever, claiming she wants to experience familial bonds. Makima has proven quite manipulative and ruthless, almost embodying stereotypical Machiavellianism. She's willing to step over whoever it takes to achieve her end goal.
INTJs are "architects" because they seek to reform the world. Though Makima's true motives are murky, she does truly want to save the world by changing how it functions. INTJs are result-oriented individuals who believe their means will always justify the ends, no matter how questionable their methods seem.
10 Power Doesn't Dwell In The Past Or Worry About The Future
ESFP
Though Power is the Blood Devil, she's still a Devil Hunter. She's pretty greedy and immature, only fighting if she's guaranteed victory. Power enjoys bragging about how much better she is than everybody else, often telling everyone around her to bow before her. As her name suggests, she wants power, and yet she hates righteousness. Power only cares about winning, outright saying she'll side with whoever wins.

ESFPs passionately live in the moment. They don't dwell on the past or stress about the future. They're pretty bold individuals and always leave a lasting impression — for better or for worse. ESFPs such as Power can be hedonistic, childish, creative, spontaneous, or a combination of these factors.
9 Denji Tends To Forget About His Safety While Hopped Up On Adrenaline
ESTP
Denji has simplistic motivations: eating, sleeping, and experiencing the benefits of adolescence. That said, Denji is quite decisive and doesn't overthink in the middle of a battle. The downside, however, is that he never truly thinks for himself. Denji also has no clear idea about his true morality. Though he seems lighthearted, he persistently tries to distract himself from his suffering.

ESTPs are known for indulging in risky behavior. They don't think twice before diving into any situation and can become quite chaotic, even volatile. ESTPs can be quite emotionally damaged, opting to fill the void with temporary distractions. Though they're pretty sociable and rational, ESTPs tend to forget about their well-being for the sake of the adrenaline rush.
8 The Bat Devil Marches To The Beat Of His Own Macabre Drum
ESTJ
The Bat Devil is the first major antagonist that Denji faces. This creature is considerably stronger than both Power and the Zombie Devil, making it nearly impossible to take down. Unlike several other Devils in Chainsaw Man, the Bat Devil subsists entirely on human consumption for its survival.
As an ESTJ, this villain marches to the beat of his own macabre drum. In other words, the Bat Devil decides what he wants at any given point in time, even if it means breaking previously made promises. Unfortunately for him, his ESTJ nature prevents him from recognizing the threat posed by Denji.
7 The Katana Man Takes Decisive Actions Rather Than Ruminating On The Possibilities
ENTJ
Much like Denji, the Katana Man becomes a hybrid entity after blending his essence with the Katana Devil. He focuses solely on exacting revenge for his grandfather's death, completely ignoring the fact that Denji was only tangentially responsible.

Furthermore, the Katana Man is more than willing to murder anyone in his path as long as they serve as stepping stones for his hateful vendetta. This character is a typical ENTJ, someone who takes decisive actions rather than ruminating on the possibilities. The Katana Man is deeply flawed, but he's also capable of surpassing expectations.
