SINGER and actress Andra Day starred as the legendary jazz singer Billie Holiday in the 2021 Hulu film, The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

2024 will be a big year for Andra Day, who’s set to appear in the upcoming films Exhibiting Forgiveness and The Deliverance in addition to performing what the NAACP calls the Black national anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing, at Super Bowl LVIII.

Who is Andra Day?

Born December 30, 1984, Cassandra Monique Batie, better known by her stage name Andra Day, is a singer, songwriter and actress from San Diego, California.

At a young age, Day was introduced to the sounds of jazz vocalists Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington, all of whom had an influence on her sound.

In 2015, Day released her debut album Cheers To The Fall, which peaked at number 48 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Day was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards, as well as Best R&B Performance for her main single Rise Up.

Day appeared alongside Stevie Wonder, who is partially credited for her discovery, in an ad for Apple TV in 2015.

She played a small nightclub singer role in the 2017 film Marshal, which starred late actor Chadwick Boseman.

She received two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and Best Original Song for her work as Billie Holiday in the Hulu film, The United States vs. Billie Holiday.

In 2024, she’s set to star in Exhibiting Forgiveness, an independent drama film, opposite André Holland and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

She’s also set to appear in the Netflix supernatural horror thriller, The Deliverance, opposite Mo’Nique, Glenn Close, Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin, and Miss Lawrence.

Who has Andra Day dated?

Day is an expert at keeping her personal life out of the public eye.

She has never revealed anything about her romantic life, and is reportedly single as of February 2024.

“We’re not dating. We don’t even know each other. It is hilarious. It was thin air. Somebody was bored that day,” Day said.

“He’s great, though. Super talented, wonderful,” Day said.
