Kevin Costner has been a Hollywood heartthrob for decades. The two-time Academy Award-winning actor, who is best known for his roles in The Bodyguard, and, most recently, Yellowstone, has been married to Christine Baumgartner since 2004. The pair actually met in the ‘80s (reportedly on a golf course, where he was rehearsing for his role in the 1996 flick Tin Cup). However, at the time, the actor was married to his first wife, Cindy Costner. (The two divorced in 1994 after 17 years of marriage.)

In the late 1990s—after Costner finalized his divorce—he and Baumgartner reconnected at a restaurant and their chemistry was undeniable. Shortly after that initial encounter, their romance began to blossom. While the pair ended up tying the knot in 2004, they briefly split in 2003 after failing to agree on whether or not to have children. (Baumgartner wanted kids, Costner didn’t.)

And, while Costner is relatively open about his personal and family life (especially when compared to other A-listers!), his wife appears to be more private, except for some red carpet appearances every so often. Keep reading for more interesting facts about Baumgartner.

She’s 48 years old (and a Pisces!).

Baumgartner was born on March 4, 1974, making her 48 years old and 19 years younger than her A-list husband.

She was a former model.

Baumgartner knows a thing or two about striking a pose. Back in the ‘80s, she worked as a model.

She’s a businesswoman.

Baumgartner means business (literally!): She graduated from California State University in Fullerton with a degree in business, which has certainly paid off (but more on that below!).

She’s a handbag designer.

Like her husband, Baumgartner also boasts an impressive career. Her handbag line, Cat Bag Couture, was famous for its collection of fashionable laptop bags. The purses, which were incredibly popular back in the mid-2000s, were even featured on Desperate Housewives.

As a busy mom of three, Baumgartner has learned how to successfully balance her personal, professional, and family life. She and Costner welcomed their first child, a son, Cayden, back in 2007. Their second son, Hayes, was born in 2009, while their daughter, Grace, was born in 2010. The family of five resides on a stunning and sprawling 160-acre ranch in Colorado.

She’s not afraid to speak her mind.

Baumgartner and Costner broke up in 2003 after a disagreement over having children—but that didn’t stop her from speaking her mind. In 2012, Costner spoke to Parade about Baumgartner’s reaction to their shocking split, in which she told him: "'I’m going to wait for you, but not long. When you come to your senses, come back to me.'"

She has four stepchildren.

Costner has seven children with three different women, which makes Baumgartner a stepmom! Costner and his first wife, Cindy, had three kids: Annie (born in 1984), Lily (born in 1986), and Joe (born in 1988). Following his divorce in 1996, Costner welcomed a fourth child, Liam, with former flame Bridget Rooney.

She’s also been on the silver screen.

As a model, Baumgartner is no stranger to the spotlight. However, she also has experience on the silver screen. She’s made appearances on shows like Inside Edition, Entertainment Tonight, and E! Live from the Red Carpet.

While Costner is active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (where he recently gushed about how beautiful his wife is), Baumgartner is not to be found on any social media platform.
