Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ruby popped up from the Internet since 2012 as a fashion influencer. She was featured in Tokyo Kawaii TV, DAZED N CONFUSED, NICO PANDA X LANE CROWFORD, Vogue and local and international medias. Since 2015, Ruby launched her brand “Weegirlsclub” aiming to create a fashion brand with the mixture of traditional Chinese culture and 90s/Y2K Cyber Ghetto.
In 2016, Ruby started to work on digital art and her artwork had been featured frequently on FELT Zine and VICE Creator’s Project.
In 2017. her digital work is exhibited in California USA at B4bel4b Gallery, BabyCastle in NYC, Panke Gallery in Berlin and Galeria NN in Argentina. Her story and 3D artwork is also featured on VICE China and VICE Creator’s Project China. Ruby created a art workshop exhibiting her collaborative work “The Game Of Fame” in The James Black Gallery in Vancouver Canada. Shopping mall K11 also invited her as a guest speaker in Kulture Salon 11 talk. She was also invited to be a speaker for City Magazine’s art talk.
In 2018, She created a 3D filter for SnapChat and also featured on VICE USA.
In September, Ruby works as 3D Digital Art Director for a fashion program FFFriday, created by Fashion Farm Foundation which is a Hong Kong government funded foundation for supporting local art and fashion. Her creation for the program included a TVC at SOGO Shopping Mall in Causeway Bay, a 3D scanning program “Create Your Avatar” at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Design Institute, H Code and SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design).
In October, Ruby was interviewed by PLAYGROUND Mag (Espanol) for a documentary about Internet influencers transforming their careers into art. ( It will be released later on in December/ Jan 2019)
In November, Ruby collaborated with luxury fashion brand FENDI, re-creating their signature fashion items with her digital art on F IS FOR FENDI’s social media platforms.
In 2019, Ruby is working for a Hong Kong well-known Shopping mall in creating three CGI avatars as the representatives of the mall. Sourced from Ruby Gloom.
