Shauna Rae’s Cancer Treatment

When Rae was just six months old, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Rae underwent chemotherapy that saved her life. But the chemotherapy also caused damage to her pituitary gland, which has caused her to stop growth.

Although, there has been no conclusive evidence that severe deformation of Rae’s pituitary gland has been caused by chemotherapy. The treatment of cancer has been occasionally known to cause endocrine problems in patients.

A life-saving chemotherapy treatment rendered Rae’s pituitary gland almost dormant. Rae stopped growing and she is only 3 feet and 10 inches tall. This is an average height of an 8-year-old.
