Early Life, Family, and Education

Born with Beals-Hecht syndrome, Ricky is the son of Barbara and Devon Berwick. His disease is genetic, caused by mutations in the FBN2 gene, so his arm span is greater than his height and he has very long fingers and toes. Due to this, Ricky spent his childhood in a motorized wheelchair, and as things look like now, Ricky will not be able to walk on his own.Still, this didn’t take away his smile and sense of humor, as these two things have made him extremely popular. Luckily, his disease doesn’t affect his age, so we will have him for years making us laugh and enjoying his humor.

Ricky started his channel in 2007, but it wasn’t until 2016 that he posted his first video. It was “wouldn’t have nothing if I didn’t have keem”, a video that introduced Ricky to people across the world. He was singing the popular Randy Newman’s song “I Wouldn’t Have Nothing If I Didn’t Have You”, as a duet with another YouTube star, Keemstar, with whom Ricky is a close friend. Once he got a few thousand subscribers and views to his channel, Ricky posted another video, followed by one more, making him quite popular. Gradually, the number of people that followed him improved from just a few thousand to hundreds of thousands, and with every new video, that number became higher. Some of his most popular videos include “Fidget Spinners Review”, with over seven million views, then “Buying a Video Game With My Chair” that has collected just a little under six million views, then “Grocery Shopping”, with five million views, “Ordering McDonalds”, with more than three million, among many other videos that have made Ricky an internet sensation. Using his dark comedy, Ricky has attracted more than a million subscribers to his channel, and his videos have been viewed over 160 million times. He has also managed to expand his popularity to other social media platforms.

Ricky’s official Instagram page has close to 300,000 followers, on which he has also uploaded a number of videos, but mostly pictures that have the purpose of making people laugh, at which he has been quite successful, as the majority of his fans describe Ricky as one of the funniest characters online, despite his disability. Though he is deprived of motoric functions, his sense of humor and will to live remains intact.
