Why Are Men so Obsessed With Boobs? The Answer is Pretty Surprising…

Ladies, let’s talk about boobs.

Breast, jugs, melons, the puppies, the girls, lady lumps – whatever you want to call them, there’s no denying that the biggest fans of boobs are our male counterparts. But why? Why are fellas so obsessed with this certain part of the female physique? If you’ve ever wondered what the attraction is when you’ve caught your other half mesmerised by your cleavage, fear not women because two men have attempted to explain why men love boobs so much. We have a feeling this will be interesting… Larry Young and Brian Alexander are two men who have recently released a book entitled The Chemistry Between Us: Love, Sex and the Science of Attraction. In this book the two men have intricately dissected all the emotional, biological and cultural elements behind the real reason men are so attracted to our boobs. The authors firmly believe that straight men are obsessed by women’s boobs simply because of a hormone released during nursing, which helps to make that powerful bond between mother and child. They believe that men who were breastfed as children then grow up with an evolutionary drive for a strong nurturing bond with their female partners. Our eyes are up here boys: there are many reasons why men are so obsessed with boobs. Writing in a column for The Huffington Post, Larry Young, who is an expert in the area of the neuroscience of social bonding, explained that “biologically speaking” the male obsession with breasts is “pretty weird.” “Boys don’t learn on the playground that breasts are something that they should be interested in. It’s biological and deeply engrained in our brain,” write Young and Alexander in their book. “In fact, research indicates that when we’re confronted with breasts, or even breast-related stimuli, like bras, we’ll start making bad decisions (and not just to eat at Hooters),” they added. Apparently, men are attracted to breasts on a biological level because a good, full cleavage indicates to a man that a woman is in good health and an excellent choice to bear and raise his children. But the authors believe that the male attraction to a pair of boobs goes beyond this and develops during their childhood. When a mother breastfeeds her child, the infant becomes the most important thing in the world and all her attention is focussed on the baby. The bonding chemical Oxytocin is also released into the mother’s breast milk and consumed by the baby. This makes nursing a feel-good experience for mother and child and it forges a very important bond between the two. Breasts subconsciously remind a man of the bond between mother and child. “This bond is not only the most beautiful of all social bonds, it can also be the most enduring, lasting a lifetime,” wrote the authors. Essentially then, when a man sees, touches or massages a woman’s breasts, it sparks the same series of brain events as nursing – the feel good chemical is released in the man’s brain and he is drawn to the breasts because subconsciously he remembers the feel-good experience of nursing as a child. Any interaction between a man and a pair of boobs then helps to bond a man to his female other half. It sounds weird, but it’s all true. So ladies the next time you catch your man having a sneaky glance at your boobs, just remember, it’s an evolutionary urge and he can’t really help it.
