Why did my pool spa drain?

Most commonly, it is simply due to a failed, or stuck check valve in the plumbing at your equipment. The check valve prevents back water flow from going into the pool. Sometimes, that valve goes bad or gets stuck allowing the water from the spa to drain back into the swimming pool.

Why does my hot tub keep going down?

According to the manufacturer, a Lay-Z Spa hot tub might deflate for one of two reasons – either the air valve is loose, or the spa is torn or punctured. If you just installed the hot tub, and it keeps deflating for no clear reason, check if the air valve is leaking by applying soapy water to the valve.

What does spa mode mean?

3.3 Spa. The SPA mode switches water circulation from the pool to spa (pool/spa combination models only). Turning on the spa also activates the filter pump (after a delay for valve rotation) and deactivates the pool cleaner if it is on. The SPA mode must be on to display the spa temperature and/or to heat the spa.

What is spa spillover?

Spillover spas are hot tubs that connect directly to your pool through a small curtain or fountain of water. This water moves directly from the jacuzzi into the swimming pool, spilling over a ledge or a series of ledges.

How do you drain a spa attached to a pool?

Attach a garden hose to your primary spigot. Run the hose to the intended draining area and proceed to drain. Once complete move your hose to the auxiliary spigot and repeat so you can drain your bleed lines. Remember to open the ball valve located on the spigot for complete drainage.

Why does my spa pump work when the pool is not in use?

Most use the same pump; some may have an added spa pump. Valve position is the main factor in determining where the water is flowing. The most common position for valves is to direct water to both the pool and spa in order to create a spa “overflow” or fountain effect when the spa is not in use.

Why does the pool drain when the pump shuts off?

What can happen is due to gravity, once the system shuts off, air can make its way out of the system. This can cause the water in the system to drain. There can be a number of these located in your pool system that can cause an air suction leak.

Is there a leak in my spa pump?

There is no actual leak. Essentially, it is just moving. Depending on the model of your check valve, you may be able to replace the main part of it, or you may actually have to replace the entire valve. You may also have smaller check valves that are actually in your return lines that bring water back to the spa.

Why is the check valve on my pool pump not working?

The parts inside of the valve can become worn over time, and in turn, cause it not to seal correctly after the pump and filter system times out. In this case, the check valve will need to be replaced.
