Im 18 and me and my boyfriend have had sex before and im pretty sure he broke my hymen. We were playing he used three fingers and when he pulled out there was blood . He has used 3 fingers before and this has never happened. Im scared and I don't know what's wrong.

I am in the exact same situation right now and I’m freaking out I can’t tell my parents I’m only 16 and idk what to do I just put on a pad and hope it goes away but what if he realised I was bleeding and it becomes awkward he’s at work now so I have no clue I’m really scared

Hello.

It’s not uncommon to bleed after being fingered. Small amounts of vaginal bleeding can be caused by minor things, such as scratches or tears.

Most bleeding that happens after you’ve been fingered will end on its own in a matter of days or sooner. Rarely, a cut inside your vagina may need medical attention from your doctor.

Moving forward, don't allow this kind of roughness.

Hi,

For the past month-2 months almost every time I'm fingered I bleed, sometimes it's a little bit of blood other times it's a very big amount. I lost my virginity years ago so it can't be the hymen and I've left time to heal any scratches that could have happened. The blood is bright red and a couple of times it has happened during sex but only once or twice and a tiny bit of blood. I have been getting pain in the lower bowel area for about 5 months now, went to the doctors and they though I could be straining myself causing a hernia, but I have stopped lifting/pushing heavy things and the pain isn't as bad as it was but still get slight niggling pains every now and then. Can you help, don't know if the pains and boood are related and I really don't think the blood can be from scratches as it's too much of it.

Hi~ I just had sex with my bf when he roughly fingered me today. He only inserted one finger and I must admit it was quite rough. I was surprised to see blood in his hands and there were some substances coming out from me. Like tissues? Or somewhat inside me. I'm a bit nervous right now and I dunno what to do. It's a little painful and the bleeding has stopped but there's still some traces of blood. I somewhat checked my private part and I just dont know how to describe it. It was quite red.

Hi Anonymous,

The trauma that Rosa spoke about would be any kind of tearing in the vaginal area by something like his nails scratching the inside of you. Just as if you scratched yourself on the arm. It may bleed for a little while but it will heal. You indicated that he was sort of rough and this may be the case.

You shouldn't worry too much about it unless you continue to bleed or feel pain in the area. As any cut, it will heal over time. Just stay away from any sort of sexual penetration for a little while and you should be fine.

Does this help ease your fears? Can you please keep us updated as I think many young women experience this and it would be helpful for you to return to us in about a week and let us know how you are doing.

Hi, I'm sorta worried, I finished my period 3 days ago and my boyfriend and i were fooling around , he fingered me (day after i finished) and it was all good, no trouble but when i got home i saw there was some blood, i though oh maybe its just spotting like my period sometimes does but when i woke up the next day(yesterday) it was really sore and red down there, quite itchy too, more at the clitoris area then anywhere else. there isn't anymore blood but its still really sore and itchy. I'm really worried i might have caught something but me and him are both virgins. Do i need to worry?

It was bright red but the bleeding stopped overnight. He was going rough but there was no pain. I am not supposed to have my period for another 2 weeks.And can you explain more on the trauma that kinda scares me.
