Mine would unfurl theirs when relaxed/asleep.. then I'd walk into the room and boing! UP they would spring!

Clove relaxes her tail when she's scared, upset, just chilling, or sleeping. If I speak to her and let her, it usually curls back up.

My pugs will always relax their curl when they are sleeping or resting and sometimes when they concentrate really hard (such as when chewing on a raw meaty bone). They will also uncurl if they are tired or bored. A tucked in and uncurled tail usually signals the dog being frightened and/or cold. If the tail remains uncurled when she's playing or talking a walk, i suggest calling a vet. Could be an injury or something neurological.

My girl always straightens her tail when lying down, eating, getting a row or frightened. It might be that your pup is just having a chilled out day because if she isn't acting scared or on edge then she'll be just fine :)

One of my favourite things about pugs is seeing that tail come up when he sees me. I'll come into a room and see one of our guys relaxed and resting with his tail straight, and then he sees me and the tail goes whoooop! back up into its curly cuteness and gives a little wag. Makes me smile every time.
