The likelihood of walking into a restaurant kitchen in America and not finding a tattoo is extremely unlikely. Why?
Back in the early- to mid-2000s, a powerful trend in the industry began gaining overwhelming strength. The tattoo became a symbol for not only one being a lover of rock ’n’ roll and punk, but also for working with knives, fire, and sweaty, tough conditions. It became a statement to how serious you were as a cook or a chef. The more tattoos you had and the more the ink displayed food-related images, the more passion you had for your craft, in many people’s eyes.
This year’s Unity Campaign, organized by United Way of Frederick County, will help 36 local nonprofits. It runs March 4 to 18. Do you plan to donate?
