In all my years of playing smite I have grown tired of people complaining that I am not playing the game the way they want it to be played because IE "tHatS HoW thE PRos PlAy" or im not taking builds from their favorite website. I literally just got out of a match where my team did no call outs and decided to target me when things started to go south because instead of a normal carry I selected a guardian. Mind you we had an Anhur in mid and Zeus in solo. I had top damage as a guardian pretty much the entire time and I was the issue because I didnt do the traditional guardian/hunter duo. Not because the other guardian didnt want to buy anti heals against a aphro support and izanami building life steal, or the jungle that never calls when they are about to attack your lane so they blame you when you are clearing minions and the other team is retreating to help set up a trap so their jungle can gank him. No its completely my fault because I wasnt the type of god you wanted. The funny thing about this is when I get hate messages from the start of the game getting called a bot or dumbass because I made a choice they didnt like and when everything goes well they either have nothing more to say or I get an apology. Also this is all going on through casual because I rather not play ranked in a team game that doesnt let you compile a team like some other MOBAsEDIT: As an added bonus I remember I once got messages about not pulling my builds from the internet and adding crits to a warrior. I was doing perfectly fine but since my build wasnt visually appealing to that person they decided to attack me with voice messages. People are sheep not just in smite but all over. They refuse to think things out themselves instead just blindly following. They also blame everyone else because they think they deserve everything handed to them and can't understand why they're not winning when they just copy what a pro player does, since that pro player did good it must not be them when they do bad doing the exact same thing. I have a rank 10 Wukong from just playing him mid and occasionally support, I almost never lose lane and if i do it's normally due to jungle or support camping the lane with no help and even then i come back late game. #1

Nice diamond wukong, I love playing him but I usually dont pick him be defualt. Its usually through assault matches if anything. #2

But ya that just how people are on online games they always can't blame themselves and will put the blame on what they deem easiest even if you were going 50-0 (exageration don't think it possible) they would still blame you because you did not do as sheep do.My favorite back in the day before it ever became a thing was Aphro+Nemi Support+carry and it worked great but ya people will always get mad if they don't see what they used to etc... again though this all online games and smite is often less toxic even then other mobas OverWatch and Dota will outright go insane if you even think about doing anything outside the meta. #6

By the definition of normal, it isn't. It may not necessarily be bad, but it's certainly not as efficient as it could be. Just because something is possible doesn't mean it should be done in a competitive environment where your failure to deliver a role will affect 4 other people trying to play the game.

They don't work with the kit very well, or they are nowhere near optimal for the character.For instance, I can't think of a Warrior who currently uses crit well enough to consider doing it.You CAN do it. But that doesn't mean it's good, even if it works. Warriors aren't there for their damage. They are there to be annoying to the enemy backline. Crit doesn't do that. Crit also means you need to build attack speed, a little pen, and damage. Where do you fit in protections that you'll need as a solo/Warrior?Unless you build the team around the idea by putting the Crit Warrior in Duo lane, that's not going to work well.Playing certain types of gods outside of their intended role also doesn't tend to work well in every situation. Guardian ADC/Mid typically isn't a good idea when there are plenty of better options - Mages and Hunters.But, you can do it in some cases, like certain Guardian Junglers.Similarly, King Arthur ADC/Crit doesn't work, because he doesn't benefit from attack speed (in the same way).You example of double Guardian Duo lane;If there is no ADC on that side of the map, it's harder to go for Gold Fury as early as the enemy can. Depending on the Guardians, it can also be harder to confirm/steal So, there is really no pressure there for objectives. That's why you tend to want Mages and Hunters over there in mid and Duo - good consistent damage from the Hunter, Large confirmable damage from the Mage.On top of that, it's double magical Duo. They just build 1 magical defence item and they are sorted for a while.The Zeus solo is just terrible. No escape when needed, should have been in either of the other lanes to help pressure GF. 1 of the Guardians should have gone solo. That's the only way I see that game going in your favour at all.Now, hate messages etc are not something that should be tolerated or condoned, but I can understand frustration at being in a team that chose those gods. I'd know from the start it wouldn't go well just based on the picks. On the off-chance a miracle happens and the game was a win, those people would then feel justified in those options and think "Oh, it worked, it must be fine/good" and never think otherwise. #11

The argument of "Well, I had top damage" is a faulty one at best. You could have top damage, even kills. But what about deaths? What about structure damage? A double Guardian duo is going to have a hard time pushing down towers.What about things that don't show on stats? Your ability to work with the team, or apply pressure where needed, to take out objectives?That last sections is just pathetic, it's not even close to the same thing. It's not got anything to do with it being because it's "not normal". It's to do with what that god is capable of doing well.Mossy gave legitimate reasons why certain gods don't work well outside of their intended roles. Their kit just isn't built for it. My previous example of King Arthur as ADC for instance. Far better off as a typical Warrior/solo laner build than an ADC one. #12

I have played so many games where it actually works to choose gods outside of what the "meta" might be. Ymir Jungle, Awilix Solo, Yemoja mid, Arachne Support, Amaterasu Carry, etc. Whatever it may be, just because it doesnt sound good to you doesnt mean I cant have fun and be successful doing it. I have played quite a few matches where I had double guardian duo lane and we completely destroyed the other teams duo. We also got towers down at a pretty significant rate. Yes it is all about how it all comes together at the end and if it will benefit your team yet some people dont give you a chance to prove it is possible even if it takes late game. I will admit not every oddball choice of gods I have made worked out in my favor or it was just simply a bad game and I was probably missing more abilities than usual that game. ♥♥♥♥ happens and thats just that. Once again I play casual and yes even in casual people play to win but it is still CASUAL. Stop talking down on your team because you dont like how they play in a casual setting. Even if they had the ability to do good with whoever they choose to play with getting targeted by your team makes you not want to try and some even lose focus and are too worried about arguing with their team. I seen so many matches fail because we had good team comp as far as gods go but as soon as someone starts getting chewed out for dying a couple times the win we were supposed to have goes downhill and we end up surrendering because it gets to a point where we cant even finish the game. #13

ya this very common and they understand what you trying to say they just to ignorant or bad or set in their ways like a 99 old racist/sexist from the time when it was normal("meta") to understand the fact that meta is not the only way, that there is a thing called having fun, and that you can win just as much outside the meta (except maybe *Top* tier ranked then can vary more).Again me and my friend WAY WAY back used to do pretty good on even ranked with Aphro+nemi miss doing that combo even was very fun and lol at the people like these that blame and refuse to accept such things no matter how great you do proof you show etc... they stay the "ignorant old person" and something you just got to accept (1 the mid size reasons I quit conquest as it was fun making such people lose their cool both in positive and negaitive way enemy losing and team winning with such, but after a while I just found it repetitive and irritating, though again mid-size reason I quit that mode plenty bigger reasons).I suggest just continue sticking to casual if you enjoy the mode mute people that irritate you and just enjoy it, if they spam enough report harrass so they least take a minor hit (chances are these toxic type will maybe report you for something ridic though so beware of that). gl.
