Our dogs have been domesticated for years so it’s no surprise they don’t like to get their little paws wet.

dogs like rain

Many dogs have a phobia of thunderstorms. Dogs are very sensitive and they can often know beforehand if bad weather is coming. Your dog can become anxious, hide or even start biting objects (hopefully not you!).

If you think your dog suffers from this phobia, don’t try to force them to go outside in attempt to get them to ‘face their fear’. And punishment is never a good idea either. If it gets very bad, the best option is to always contact your veterinarian. They can recommend great techniques to improve the behaviour of your dog so it can feel more relaxed when a storm is approaching. Another reason that dogs can dislike bad weather is because the sound of rain can become amplified. It’s a common fact that dogs have very sensitive hearing. Instead of enjoying the rain as we do, they can find the noise very uncomfortable. In this case, try to keep your dog entertained, practice some tricks or just give him a warm cuddle to make them feel safe and relaxed.

I mentioned the fear that takes charge of my dog before and during a storm! She tries to hide it out with staying very close to me and I sit on my lounge with her tightly behind my back against the cushion! Then under the covers in bed with me and trying to shield her ears from the Thunder! I tried a tablet prescribed by the vet and my dog vomited every where? Not good either way! Worried her life will be shortened by the storms with her little heart pounding and tongue out panting furiously! Can any one recommend any thing to help? Ear muffs perhaps? Her ears are up all the time as a Terrier! ?

It’s always best to observe your dog’s behavior during rainy days and to respect their preferences, some dogs may enjoy going out in the rain, while others may prefer to stay indoors. If your dog seems uncomfortable or unhappy during rainy weather, it’s best to keep them indoors and provide them with indoor activities to keep them entertained. It was an original piece.
