R. Kelly continues to have issues in jail. Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg,  recently provided insight on what the embattled R&B star is facing on a daily basis as he awaits trial for several sexual assault cases, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Greenberg revealed that Kelly is miserable because he is illiterate and is severely limited by his inability to read or write. Kelly is unable to read his Bible or the fan mail he receives. He does not have access to a TV or radio because he’s currently in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.

Kelly asked a judge to place him in solitary confinement so that he would not be attacked by other inmates. He can only communicate with the guards who patrol his cell block.

In July, Kelly asked a judge to grant him permission to have a personal computer in his cell so that he can record his next album. The request was eventually denied.

The Grammy Award-winning singer has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, and aggravated criminal sex abuse. The four aggravated criminal sexual assault charges are felonies that could carry prison terms of up to 30 years.

Kelly remains behind bars after he was not allowed a bond due to prosecutors’ claims that he is “an extreme danger to the community, especially minor girls.”
