I just finished shippuden a few days ago and I was wondering if I should even watch boruto. I know everyone says boruto is bad but why, from what I’ve seen the fights look good, idk about the story line or anything but someone please explain.

Well Personal Preference, I completed Shippuden last year and at that time the hate was so bad then it is now, but I started the show and it's one of my favourites now. If you have no problem with Slice of Life, Inconsistent Animation and slow development you should try Boruto.

I think the hate is mostly because it’s literally 70% filler(do the math) and thus the plot has almost no progression

For me and most of my friends, Boruto is a sequel that nobody asked and wanted, it's feels that the author would milk Naruto's story till it's dead for money the same way as Nickelodeon milking Spongebob. Naruto Shippuden is more than enough to cover the whole Naruto story and the shinobi world is finally reach a peaceful life. Also the idea from fighting ninjas from other nations to fighting a literal alien from the moon or some shit like that is the worse thing I've ever heard.

I think it's an amazing sequel in terms of world building and characters, really highlighting the peaceful era in the world. But the problem is exactly that. It's peaceful, nothing is really happening (until the newest arc). I personally skipped over 80 episodes in the anime and missed nothing.

The first 120 Ep. [except the Chunin Exams Arc] was mediocre... So fuckin' terrible I almost dropped it. But a friend of mine recommended me to continue upto the current arc [Kawaki/Kara Arc], which is getting better but sometimes slowpacing occuries. I suggest you should skip all of the fillers and most of the Anime Canon or otherwise you won't handle the uglyshit.

Its not that bad now. But it was crap for like first 160 episodes or so. Its a 5/10 series imo.

If you really would like to get the boruto story after watching shippuden I’d suggest skipping the anime and reading the manga it’s much better. Only issue is once you catch up new chapters are only released once a month. That’s why the story progression is so bad in the anime

And if you did pay attention to the story then well ain't no milking the story the moment Kaguya was mentioned it was clearly stated she was sent to Earth by someone else so it's obvious the people who sent her and would appear after she betrayed her clan.

It has the same problems as shippuden and really any anime from studio pierrot. Fillers. Also it has a pretty weak start so that doesn't help. Luckily for you, you can just skip them all and get to the good part. Lot of it expands the story though so don't skip them all. Up until a few months ago i watched boruto just because it's naruto sequel. Now i cant wait to watch the new episodes

I finished Naruto and Shippuden in April, and I just watched Boruto because of my love for the world and the characters. But then episode 65 happened and I was like WOW!?!? One of my favorite fights in all of the series. Then it slows down a bit, until you get to the Time Arc 120-140, and it's AMAZING, and has nostalgia and I just absolutely loved it. Then it's mediocre again, and then around episode 190 it has completely hooked me in, I love every episode, and am soo excited week after week. I definitely was just watching it to watch it for awhile, and Boruto's character (and especially dub voice actor) annoyed the crap out of me. But I am soo happy I stuck with it and that the show has matured into what it is now, if you loved Naruto, and Shippuden and you go into this with an open mind and knowing that it's going to have just some pretty mediocre parts but if you hang in you'll get some great lore, nostalgia, character moments, and fights, then you should definitely appreciate it. Just have patience.

Now because of not being willing to wait, I have gotten to really enjoy Sub as well(especially when the dub cast is bad like in older stuff where they sound like they are just talking not even in character 😩). But I am all about nostalgia and the classic characters are great at that for me. So OP, Skip the filler but watch 120-140 if you love Naruto/Shippuden.

It's not bad at all. In fact you can tell so much love and passion is put into it by the animators on certain episodes so it's really sad people will insult it without even giving it a chance. I think it's because it had a really bad first impression and people refuse to let go of that impression. People still think Boruto is an ungrateful brat even after all his character growth. You have to keep going past the chuunin exams arc. The current arc with kara and Kawaki has been really amazing. I'm hardcore original series loyalist but I gave Boruto a chance and I enjoy it. I see the criticism is mostly people repeating the same points and it's obvious they haven't even watched it themselves.

It's up to you. I just personally didn't like the slow, slice-of-life vibe of the fillers. I also didn't like Boruto. I will say that he has some similarities to young Naruto in the sense that they both inspire people and were trouble-makers. But the major difference is the fact that Boruto has no motivation to be a ninja. He even despises it simply because of the fact that he has tension with Naruto over him not being home often due to his duties as Hokage. I do know that Boruto is just a kid and is unaware of the work Naruto put into being Hokage and how hard the responsibilities are. But it just gets tiresome to sit through after a while since it's dragged on with not much progression in their relationship. And you don't really see much development in Boruto's motivation to be a ninja until after the Momoshiki arc (which was when I started to like him).

Don't listen to all the hatred online. Boruto is a sequel to naruto and i think it does a very good job at it while introducing its own ideas. At first you may notice that pace is a bit slow but this is made to expand on the peace era that naruto achieved by the end of shippuden then gradually more dangers start appearing. The pay off is amazing. You can use the episode guide mentioned above if you don't have much time but don't skip anything starting episode 157. The anime adapted the manga so good and added more depth to it.

People hated boruto low-key because of how its all futuristic now. The futuristic stuff are so annoying and Everything in original naruto was so simple. Thats probably one of the reasons why it was hated so much
Sep 29, 2021 12:16 PM#30HatulOfflineOct 20081008
Can't speak for anyone else, but here are my reasons for not hating, but having trouble with Boruto. The majority of the series is anime original content and though some of it is decent, a great deal of it is pretty boring and lacking in terms of stakes, tension, memorable villains or strategic battles (you know, all the things Naruto was known for), not to mention advancement of its characters and story. I'm all for having anime original content because of differences between mediums, but that's not the main objective here. The Boruto anime is restricted in what it can actually do in its original content because it's at the mercy of the monthly manga it's based on - which it still has to follow religiously. And that's a shame if you ask me. The adapted manga material is more interesting for sure, but it has its downsides as well and none of it reached the heights Naruto did as of yet and it probably never will (even though I never was much of a Naruto fan). To Boruto's credit though, it also never reaches the lows of Naruto in terms of filler (and arguably even some of its canon). So there's that..

If you watch it this way the show is actually pretty good. People may not like watching it this way but I found it not only to be more efficient but more entertaining also

At this point I would not call it preference, Boruto's bad rating (5.89) is based of Boruto haters that did not even gave show a chance or they just watched microscopic part of it. Ussualy talk that it's just Naruto copy or Kishimoto's greediness for money. For me show was boring at the start, but I had a lot of fun watching it so I would never rate it that bad. For me 8/10

It's not a matter limited to this series, it's the distinct tone of an author not wanting to end a series. Closure is a huge thing. Shippuden set up Boruto within its last 12 episodes, which is why I stopped watching it when Sasuke leaves. Boruto is a shoehorned retread that doesn't need to exist because the story is over.

- Horifficly slow pacing. The original was 220 episodes, well over half of which was filler. We're 232 episodes in, and all they've done is kill off / nerf a bunch of characters from the Shippuuden era, while nothing truly significant to the Boruto era has happened. - The peaceful post-war world makes for a much less tense and suspenseful vibe. The Otsutsuki are the only threat, compared to the original and Shippuuden when a multitude of villages or factions could invade on any given day. - Probably my single biggest complaint, is that I am not fond of the modern, technologically advanced society. Took away the show's feudal-era charm. No point in training for years to master S-rank ninjutsu if Denki is just going to come out in a Gundam and stomp you.

Boruto series is 72% filler and the fillers are just not good enough . Another reason of hatred is that Boruto is seen misbehaving with his father ( Naruto ) who is loved by all. Reason no. 3 is that every Naruto character got nerfed just to fool the audience to tell that the next generation is better than the previous one and we all know how it is . The fights in between of Naruto and Isshiki are cool tho.
