In the Heights made a colorful debut on HBO Max last month. The Jon M. Chu and Lin-Manuel Miranda musical finally landed on streaming after a long delay, and it was well-worth the wait, earning rave reviews from critics and audiences alike when it first premiered June 11.

“A movie of this level of quality and scope this grand ought to earn a devoted following that rivals that of the founding fathers’ musical [Hamilton]. I have a feeling it will. In the Heights is the event of the summer. No one will want to miss out,” Decider’s Anna Menta writes in her In the Heights movie review.

WHY IS IN THE HEIGHTS NOT ON HBO MAX?

If you were hoping to stream In the Heights on HBO Max, you’ve missed your window. The movie, which debuted in theaters and on HBO Max June 11, only stayed on the streaming platform for 30 days. When time was up July 11, the film left HBO Max. The release is consistent with Warner Bros.’ strategy to premiere new films in theaters and on HBO Max for their first 30 days, after which the film leaves the streamer.

WHERE CAN I WATCH IN THE HEIGHTS?

Because In the Heights is no longer available to stream online, your best bet to watch the film is to catch a showing. While the movie left HBO Max, it is still playing in theaters. You can also own the film when it’s released on VOD starting July 30. On average, Warner Bros. films return to HBO Max within five months of leaving, so it’s likely In the Heights would be back by November.
