Paint blistering occurs for a number of reasons. The most common causes are moisture related. Moisture problems are generally as a result of inadequate waterproofing and painting on surfaces which are wet. If newly plastered walls are not allowed to dry and are painted when wet the paint will not adhere to the surface. This will cause the paint to delaminate and bubble or blister. It is important to follow the recommended drying times for new plaster. This could be between 3 to 6 weeks depending on the plaster type, thickness and drying factors.

Moisture sometimes finds its way into the plaster through cracks in the surface. Again the blisters will appear when the moisture is forced to the surface with evaporation. These cracks should be repaired with Warrior Fibre Filler, primed with Warrior Water Based Acrylic Primer and then finished with two coats of Warriortex Textured Coating, an excellent exterior acrylic paint.
