Skip to main contentHello! Reader last December I got an opportunity to visit “God’s own country” along with my family and it was an amazing experience for all of us. Kerala has got something for everyone. We a landed on the Kochi airport and were awe struck by looking at the solar panels field around the airport area, our driver told us that whole airport is being powered by using them only.
God’s Own Country:
According to my research Kerala Tourism was looking for the tagline to advertise Kerala as a tourist paradise and all of the sudden a marketing company came out with this tagline, though some thought it would reflect ego (one is it’s declaring itself God’s own country) but the chance was taken and the rest is history.
Does it really justify the title given?
Yes, it’s located in the southern part of India. Kerala has it all from plains to lakes to ponds to backwaters to fresh water lake to white sandy beaches you just have to name it, Kerala gives you all. Kerala has rich culture, rich flora and fauna.
Mesmerizing Beaches
Kerala is blessed with many beautiful beaches such as Varkala Beach, Marari Beach, Bekal Beach, Cherai Beach, Beypore Beach, Kappil Beach, Alappuzha Beach, Shankumugham Beach, Muzhappilangad Beach, Kovalam Beach.
But the one we visited was the MARARI BEACH the famous white sand beach of the Kerala. The beach was really very neat, less crowded a must visit for the beach lover.
Backwaters
Alappuzha, also known by its former name Alleppey is famous for its backwaters. Here you can have a day tour in the house boat or the hourly boat ride in shikara in the backwaters and of course night stay at the boat house is the best option.
Kerala’s food
Kerala cuisine is mouth-wateringly yummy and certainly unique. Rice is the staple diet and non-vegetarian food can be found in abundance. Seafood cooked in coconut gravy is something that you must try in Kerala.
Sadhaya thali to the most famous among tourist, though we could not get our hands on it yet enjoyed lots of other options at the other places.
Kerala’s Traditions and reach heritage
Kerala has preserved the ancient art of martial arts, Kalarippayattu. In fact, one can witness numerous timeless traditions in Kerala, be it dance forms, sports, Ayurveda, herbal spas and much more. Its famous for the places of worships , which reflects the heritage side of the Kerala.
Rich flora and Fauna
Kerala is home to Periyar National Tiger Park, Eravikulam Reserve, Silent Valley Park, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Wayanad Reserve, where one can visit and see the rich flora and fauna. In fact, Kerala has several popular hill stations like Munnar, Wayanad, Ponmudi among others, which bring one closer to nature.
