Know MoreLet’s Talk About The Men Who Say That They Prefer Girls Without Makeup

Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve heard men say, “I hate girls who wear makeup” or “Natural beauty is the best” or “You don’t need to wear that!”. Each time the silent commentary in my head says, “Chal, jhoota!” Whether or not men actually mean what they say is highly questionable, and today, we’re going to uncover just what they mean!

Show a man a picture of a celebrity who has captioned her (carefully careless) picture with a nonchalant “I woke up like this” or “Bare face,” and he will admire her “natural beauty” and praise her beauty to the seventh heavens. Show a woman the exact same picture, and she’ll tell you at least 3 cosmetic products she’s used to conceal her dark circles, to give her eyes an extra pop and to make her lips look as juicy as they can – yup, that’s concealer, mascara and lip balm! So, the point here is that men can’t even tell the difference between an actual bare face and one with all the right shades of corals and nudes that make their dream girl look so effortlessly beautiful, so when they pass such judgement, it clearly isn’t an informed one.

A recent study was conducted by a dating site, to evaluate the truth in the very controversial statement – “I like women with no-makeup.” Spoiler alert: the results are most likely to be exactly what you’re predicting. The study analyzed 1200 women’s profiles on the website and it was found that women wearing make-up in their profile pictures attract three times as many hits as those who don’t. Despite that, men continue to swear otherwise.

“I have nothing against women who wear makeup, but personally I would not like my partner to paint her face with all these products. Especially red lipstick and other bright colors. There’s nothing more attractive than a fresh, natural face on a woman,” A 29-year-old guy who is active on online dating websites, once told me. Yet, in the next breath he admitted that when he’s watching a film or a music video, he gets “attracted” to all the women that are excessively dolled-up. He believes that that is “infatuation” and it’s simply “visually appealing.” Though I didn’t bother to intervene between his conflicting, problematic thought process and choice of words, I had to. “But you just said it’s not visually appealing to you, didn’t you?” I cringed. “You don’t get it… on screen it's fine… It looks good on actresses and artists, its fantasy!” Confused yet? Well, clearly… so are the boys!

For years on end there’s been a debate on whether or not women dress to appease the opposite sex, and the truth is we don’t! A woman with a bare face is not going to suddenly whip out her eye shadow just because a man walked in and she is definitely not going to wet-wipe off her Rs 2000 wala foundation because a man doesn’t like it. So even though guys may like to believe that the world revolves around them and their likes and dislikes, sorry boys it doesn’t. Maybe it would’ve if you understood the difference between a made-up face and a bare one – but it looks like you’ve missed that bus too!

So girls, the next time a man interrupts your attempt to KUWTK (Keep Up With The Kardashians), ask him to take a seat. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life, especially if it’s coming from someone as clueless as Christopher Columbus at sea.
