Why Twitch Streamer Sykkuno Covers His Mouth When Laughing

Here’s the reason why popular Twitch streamer Sykkuno covers his mouth when he laughs. Twitch has been around since 2011 and in the decade since its launch the site has established itself as the world’s number one live streaming platform. Its popularity soared higher during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, with viewership swelling from 11 billion hours watched in 2019 to 18.41 billion hours in 2020, according to a report from Streamlabs.
The popularity of certain Twitch gaming streamers exploded during the pandemic too and such is the case with Sykkuno. The former software developer began regularly streaming in 2019 after his friend and fellow streamer LilyPichu encouraged him to do so, but he really blew up when he started uploading Among Us content. In 2021, Sykkuno took part in an Among Us-themed charity stream hosted by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon that saw him play the game with Fallon’s house band The Roots and Stranger Things stars Gaten Matarazzo and Noah Schnapp. By 2022, he’d amassed over 4 million Twitch followers and was nominated in two categories (Best GTA RP Streamer and Streamer of The Year) at the inaugural Streamer Awards.

A big part of Sykkuno’s appeal is his personality. He’s a laidback character with a wholesome, kind personality who often comes across as quite shy – as evidenced by his humble responses during an interview with CodeMiko in which he deflected most of the compliments she threw his way. Several of his followers have commented on how reserved the Twitch streamer’s body language is too and have noted a habitual mannerism he’s adopted that’s present in many of his videos whenever he finds something funny. So, why does Sykkuno cover his mouth when laughing?
It's difficult to find a concrete answer as to why, but his fanbase has come up with a few potential reasons. According to Redditors like SuggestionAgreeable2 and LocKeyThirteen, several people made fun of Sykkuno’s smile in the past which made him insecure and resulted in him developing the habit of covering his mouth when he laughs or grins. Sykkuno has talked about being bullied in his younger years so the theory tracks, but if this is the case then it’s unfortunate because he has a beautiful smile on the odd occasion when he forgets to cover it up.
News broke in 2022 that Sykkuno is making the move from Twitch to YouTube Gaming after signing an exclusive (and very lucrative) deal with the website. Here’s hoping the fact that YouTube is willing to spend a handsome sum to sign him gives Sykkuno a confidence boost because if anyone deserves it, it’s him.
