Today, we will talk about why our eyes sometimes tear up when we yawn. By now we all know yawning is contagious and thus if one person in the room yawns, the other person may yawn too. But if you have noticed, sometimes your eyes might get teary while you yawn a little hard. Any idea, why so? If no, read on to know the answer.The glands that are located just below our eyebrows are responsible for the tears our eyes produce.These glands produce water slowly throughout the day and thus make your eyes look dewy. Our eyes are supposed to stay wet and these glands do the job. When you yawn, your facial muscles contract, which puts pressure on these tear glands (lacrimal glands). The pressure on the teary glands squeezes them and releases little more water than normal.
