Wii Nunchuk Is Not Responding or Has Stopped Working

The information in this article can help you when your Nunchuk attachment is not responding.

Note: The Nunchuk is not used when navigating the Wii console's settings and menus.

What to do

Make sure the game being played uses the Nunchuk. Look for the icon below on the packing and read the game's instruction manual for more information.

Clear the syncs on the console.
Sometimes weak batteries can cause these types of problems to occur. Try a new set of batteries. Learn about what types of batteries to use.
Reset the Wii Remote.
Use a game mode that utilizes the Nunchuk to test whether it is responding. In Wii Sports, the Boxing game can be used.
If possible, try the Nunchuk in another Wii Remote, or try another Nunchuk Controller.

If the Nunchuk isn't responding, it will need to be replaced. Learn more about our replacement options.
