How to play
If kids are new to the topic, or if they need some help with their spelling, introduce the vocabulary by using our Vocabulary Words list before playing the game. Otherwise, they may find it quite difficult.
There are black and white pictures at the top of the game board. To start, click on the picture of the word you want to practice. Now you can see the big picture of the word and two sets of boxes. The blue set shows the word, but each letter of the word is scrambled up! The blank set is the place where you put the letters in the correct order. Click on and drag the letters into the proper boxes to correctly spell the word.
Don't worry if you drag the letter into the wrong blank box. Just try and try until you get the right place for it. When you spell the word correctly, the picture of the word will appear in colour and you hear the pronunciation.
Then try the next word to spell. You can choose your word in random order from the pictures at the top. The selected picture will be highlighted in yellow.

Activity Ideas
If your students enjoy our spelling game, you could expand it (or give your students extra practice) by playing related classroom word games. Here are some ideas to inspire you. These activities can be used in any topic!
Write your spelling words two times each. The first time, write each word in uppercase letters. Write your words a second time in lowercase letters. For example: ELEPHANT, elephant.
Write selected words forwards. Then write them a second time backwards. For example, lion - noil, tiger - regit, and so on.
Write your words on your partner's back. Can they guess what each one is? Then it's your turn to feel and spell.
