Oh, hey there.

Earlier today we noted that World of Warcraft’s most recent build for patch 9.1.5 was marked as a release candidate, which in and of itself means that the update was getting closer to release. Now we have an official date via the game’s official Twitter account: Patch 9.1.5 will be released on November 2nd, just under two weeks from now.

For those of you looking forward to a whole lot of new content… well, you’re not getting it. This is not a patch with a whole lot of content. There is a fair amount of old content, however, with Legion Timewalking and the return of the Mage Tower challenge. Players will also have access to a number of different customization options for several allied races (Void Elves, Nightborne, Lightforged Draenei, and Highmountain Tauren) as well as a number of the changes that have been made to remove content Blizzard no longer wants present in the live game.

Edit to add: We would like to make sure our readers recall that November 2nd is also the date of the third-quarter financial conference call, when the effects of the ongoing scandal will be in full view as the reporting will cover the period of July, August, and September.

Source: Twitter Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial company in the MMO and gaming space owing to a long string of scandals over the last few years, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, and executive pay fiasco. In the summer of 2021, the company was sued by the state of California for fostering a work environment riddled with sexual harassment and discrimination, the disastrous corporate response to which has further compounded Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are in decline. As of fall 2021, multiple state and federal agencies are currently investigating the company.
