Write down the factors of the following number: 44?Answer
Verified555.9k+ viewsHint: We start solving the problem by writing the given number as a multiplication of two numbers out of which one will be a prime number. We then write the remaining number as a multiplication of two numbers out of which one will be a prime number. We then continue this process till we get the given number as the multiplication of all prime numbers. We then multiply the different combinations of these prime numbers to find the required factors.Complete step-by-step answer:According to the problem, we need to find the factors for the given number 44.Let us first prime factorize the given number and then find the factors that can divide the number. We know that $44=2\times 22$ ---(1).We know that $22=2\times 11$ ---(2).Let us substitute equation (2) in equation (1).So, we get $44=2\times 2\times 11$. We know that the numbers 2 and 11 are prime numbers, so we can’t factorize further.Let us find the factors by multiplying the numbers obtained in prime factorization. We know that every positive number has factors 1 and itself. We already have 2 and 11 as one of the factors. Now, let us multiply them to get the remaining factors. So, the factors will be $2\times 2=4$, $2\times 11=22$.The factors of 44 will be 1, 2, 4, 11, 22, 44.∴ We have found the factors of the number 44 as 1, 2, 4, 11, 22, 44.Note: We should not forget to write 1 and 44 as the factors of 44 which is the most common mistake done by mistakes. Whenever we get this type of problem, we first try to prime factorize the given number which leads us to finding the factors. We should not just say that the obtained prime numbers are the only factors. Similarly, we can expect problems to find the sum and product of the obtained factors.
