WWE superstar Brock Lesnar was ready to call it quits and return to his farm in Saskatchewan.

or View more offersArticle contentHe had just lost the WWE Championship in April 2020 to Drew McIntyre at a fan-less WrestleMania 36 in Orlando.
Article content“Had my first wrestling match in a garage in front of no people, and 20 years later I’m WWE universal champion of the world, wrestling in front of no people,” Lesnar told the New York Post.
“So I came full circle. I had 20 years as an athlete, as an entertainer, and I was OK with it. The pandemic hits, and my contract was up, and so in my mind, I was retired and just settling into it. I grew my beard out, grew my hair out. This wasn’t some master plan. I just kind of went off the map and was okay with it.”
Lesnar’s wilderness years didn’t last long.

The 44-year-old returned to action last August at SummerSlam and it signaled a return to centre-stage and the grappling world’s stratosphere.
He battled Roman Reigns and his manager Paul Heyman. Lesnar has recaptured the WWE championship twice since then — and the Royal Rumble. The storyline with Reigns and Heyman was the spark that signalled his return, Lesnar said.

I have a passion for it, this storyline for sure.”
And in a dramatic twist, the fabled heel became a white hat. He ditched his villainous buzz cut for longer hair, engages with fans and tells jokes.
Most of the time he now dresses outside the ring in his preferred overalls, a flannel shirt, cowboy boots and a hat. It’s the first time fans have gotten a look at the real Lesnar and not the enigmatic robotic villain.

“This is the real Brock Lesnar,” he said. “I’m a country hillbilly f–k, and that’s who I’m am. I grew up the same way.”
Lesnar proclaims that this is who he really is, adding before his return to the farm he wasn’t “feeling” the wrestling promotion’s vision for him. Meet the new Lesnar.
“I can be a funny f–ker,” Lesnar said. “I can be serious. I can be bipolar and change my persona on a flick of a switch, just ask my kids. I can change on a dime. I can be joking with you and then rip your f–king head off the next second. It’s just the way I am.”

His next goal? Lesnar wants to be dual champion when the dust from WrestleMania 38 in Dallas is settled after the annual squared circle epic slated for April 2-3.
“Last week Lesnar confessed on The Pat McAfee Show that after a big match he struggles with anxiety.

“I was a kid who had anxiety issues. I grew up in the ’80s. When we went to school, they didn’t have a definition of whatever, and I didn’t take any pills,” he said. “I didn’t go to the doctor, got my behavioral happenstances or whatever. I just learned … and wrestling was my savior.
