Husband came up with Xander which means “defender of men.” We like the meaning and how it’s not very common.

My mother is Sandra which is a derivative of Alexandra. So I thought it would be a nice way to honor my mother. I asked him while he was still in utero and he was a little wiggle worm when Xander was suggested. I like to think he picked his name. He really is Xander the Great. He is the kindest kid

I used to live in the UAE and I loved that the kids names had a meaning. So, I found that Xander meant splendid in Arabic so, that’s why I chose that name, because to me, he is splendid in every way.

Same lol I’d decided if I ever had a boy no other name but Xander, decided from when I was 6 years old, when Buffy first aired. Luckily I married a man who loved the name too xxx

It’s a funny story. Alex (my husband) doesn’t like for me to call him by his full name Alexander. He only wants to be called Alex. So years ago I would joke and say “well one day when we have children, I will name our son after the part of your name you don’t use.” When we found out we were having a boy I decided to stick with that name I joked about years prior. Xander is named after his dad basically. He’s a Semi Jr. lol

I wanted him to be named after my mother she passed in March. Her name was Xanthia so I wanted his name to have a part of her name so I said Xander and it just stuck to me.

My husband always liked the name Xander and said if he had a boy that’s what he wanted. He was so set on it that I didn’t try to change his mind. I don’t love it but I don’t hate the name. It’s also become more popular lately.

I think it’s a strong name and unique but not unheard of. I love the name Alexander but it’s a bit long so I absolutely loved this shortened version.
