Yellow Areas on Eyelids (Xanthelasma)Yellow Areas on Eyelids (Xanthelasma)

Xanthelasma is characterised by stubborn, hard yellow patches around your upper and lower eyelids. While not always indicative of elevated fats in your blood, they can be both a cosmetic concern and a potential health signal. At Faciem Dermatology & Medical Clinic London, Dr Anamica Prasad specialises in pinpointing the diagnosis and crafting a personalised solution just for you.

Serial TCA chemical peels, a carefully curated treatment spaced every 4-6 weeks, gradually peels away the xanthelasma – the treated area scabs, gently crusts before normal skin emerges. It’s a step-by-step transformation that ensures a cosmetic resolution and the return to the beauty of clear, unblemished skin. Curious to learn more about this innovative approach? Yellow Areas on Eyelids (Xanthelasma) Faq

What causes it ?

It is caused by accumulation of fatty deposits on the eyelids. They do not typically give symptoms but many patients are bothered by the cosmetic appearance.

Can it be treated ?

Yes absolutely it can be treated and the area improved. In some skin types it can be completely removed but in skin of colour (Asian, Afro-Caribbean) we have to finely balance treatments to avoid causing scarring to the skin.

How long will it take to see results ?

After one treatment, depending on how aggressive you allow us to be with treatment, you will start to notice good results. More aggressive treatments – i.e more chemical peel solution or a higher laser setting – will mean more recovery time but the results will be quicker However we can also perform lighter treatments to suit you work and social events. Crusting can easily be covered with makeup and we provide all aftercare and advice.
