Yellowstone: Cole Hauser on Roarke Carter’s death

From the very first season, Hauser’s short-tempered ranch manager has been someone even the Duttons’ fiercest rivals haven’t wanted to mess with.

In last Sunday’s premiere event, Rip was out for revenge after a horrific series of attacks left the Dutton family rattled in the season three finale.

After a short time jump, John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) and his children are thankfully still breathing, though none the wiser as to who ordered the ambush.

Nevertheless, Rip strongly suspected Roarke Morris (Josh Holloway) and Market Equities were involved somehow.

Leaving fiancée Beth (Kelly Reilly) in the early hours of the morning, Rip finds Roarke in his usual fishing spot.

The brutal ranch manager wasted no time in taking him down, throwing a deadly snake into his face which bites him and slithers away.

Rip utters a curt “Good riddance” whilst Roarke slowly succumbs to the poison and dies.

Yellowstone fans have been waiting since his introduction in the third season to see Roarke get what was coming to him, and Sunday night’s premiere didn’t disappoint.

However, viewers may not have been expecting his death scene to occur so soon into the new season.

“Rip is kind of one of those ‘get it done’ kind of guys,” Hauser explained.

Roarke is often seen fishing on the Duttons’ land throughout the series, but Rip put an end to his relaxation in the only way he knows how.

Hauser continued: “In typical Rip fashion, there’s this beautiful kind of serene setting of a guy fly-fishing.

“And this man coming, walking straight at him into the water and opening a cooler and out flies a rattlesnake.”

Viewers were certainly shocked by the sudden attack, but by no means disappointed to see the slimy Market Equities stock holder take his leave from Yellowstone.

Hauser’s co-star Jen Landon chimed in: “A cooler and a rattlesnake, who knew?”

“That might be my favourite death in TV history,” she claimed.

Finally, the Rip star added: “And Josh did a great job in dying.”

Thankfully, recurring star Holloway was able to put in one last great performance as Roarke before his time on the series came to a horrific conclusion.

Unfortunately, Roarke’s boss Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) has also entered the picture to cause even more trouble for the ranch in season four.

Yellowstone season 4 continues Sundays on Paramount.
