Master Cycle Zero in Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the headline addition of DLC 2The Champion's Ballad, a motorbike that allows you to explore Hyrule in a whole new way.

Though it's probably one of the last items you'll unlock in the game, like every weapon you come across, there are limitations in how you use it - fuel - so learning the best fuel is essential for uninterrupted travels.

On that note, here's how to unlock the Master Cycle Zero, how to use it and the best Master Cycle Zero fuel in Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

How to unlock Master Cycle Zero in Zelda Breath of the Wild

In order to gain access to the Master Cycle Zero, you're going to need to complete the entire DLC 2 story. That doesn't include all the side-quests that unlock new armour items - just the main Champion's Ballad questline.

You don't have to have finished the entire game, but you need to have completed all four Divine Beasts and defeated the four respective Blight Ganons tied to each one to get started. Just beware the following list does contain spoilers for the DLC.

This list of must-complete objectives includes:

  • Tackling four camps with the One-Hit Obliterator and their subsequent Shrines
  • Completing EX Champion Mipha's Song (three shrines and a boss fight with Waterblight Ganon)
  • Completing EX Champion Daruk's Song (three shrines and a boss fight with Fireblight Ganon)
  • Completing EX Champion Rivali's Song (three shrines and a boss fight with Windblight Ganon)
  • Complete EX Champion Urbosa's Song (three shrines and a boss fight with Thunderblight Ganon)
  • Complete The Divine Trial dungeon and the subsequent boss

When the final boss is defeated as part of The Divine Trial, the Master Cycle Zero will be unlocked and can be used at any time from this point onwards in the main gameworld.

How to use the Master Cycle Zero in Zelda Breath of the Wild

As soon as you defeat the final boss of the Champions' Ballad DLC, the Master Cycle Zero can be accessed at any time. So if you want to pull off some sick jumps, you're only a few button presses away.

In order to access it, press Up on the D-pad and select the new Rune from the far-right of your abilities submenu. Now press 'L' to summon it like you would an ability. Press 'A' to jump on and ride!

As well as a speedy mode of transport, you can also use it for stunts and jumps thanks to the lack of fall damage you'll receive from landing. Above is a video by Mety333 on YouTube making a ramp by moving metal objects.

Another video by Mety333 shows the speed difference between the bike and a five star horse. Surprisingly, the horse is faster with continuous boosts. Since the bike is faster to spawn, more agile and easier to ride, it'd quickly become your transport of choice.

Like your horse and other objects in the game, there are several limitations to where you can summon or use the Master Cycle Zero:

  • In a Shrine
  • Roaming the Gerudo Desert
  • Burning areas of Eldin

The other thing that may get in the way is it needs fuel.

Zelda Breath of the Wild Master Cycle Zero best fuel explained

Though the Master Cycle Zero is a fast little beast, it needs fuel.

You can use almost any material to fuel it, and you'll need to hold items (like you would before cooking) and place them into the bike's fuel tank by standing at the back of the bike - a bit like the Delorean in Back to the Future.

Though you'll be able to hit top speeds just by holding down the accelerator, but you'll need to make sure you're always picking up flowers, ammo and other items found in and around Hyrule.

Different items top up the fuel gauge in different amounts, and interestingly, it doesn't work the way you'd assume. The more common the item, the more fuel it'll provide.

As show in the above image by CompleteyClueless (via Imgur and Reddit) shows how much fuel each item will provide.

Common items such as Apples, Flints, Wood, Boboblin and Lizalfos parts will give you the most amount of fuel, with five items filling half the tank. Compare that to five far rarer Dragon parts and you'll top up just one eigth of the tank.

It's essentially a good use of those common items you've got littered across your inventory, saving the best stuff for any last armour upgrades and potions you still want to make.
