9/10 in terms of my romance standards (which are rather low compared to my action standards, but I digress)...

To people who are complaining about the series: wait until it's actually completely scanlated before you judge. The (imo) best and most interesting plot arc begins somewhere between volumes 9-11, and it had me sobbing by the end.

Throughout the story, the characters grow and mature -- and I think that's ultimately what the story's about. Hee-so is still obsessed with erotica in vol12, and she's still boy-crazy, but both Hee-So and everyone around her have changed in meaningful ways by the end of the series.

About the love square/triangle/idk -- that love shape... triangle... square... idk... is not the main focus of the series. There is another, more important and pressuring, love triangle of sorts. Although it's clear from the beginning who Hee-So will end up with, the guy she leaves behind -- the guy who leaves her behind -- is perhaps the more endearing/lovable of the two, and he's the one I got way more attached to, but ultimately there was only one way for the story to end.

Sorry for redundancy / crappy grammar. It's late and I'm falling asleep and why oh why do I only ever write my reviews at 2 am?

Kind of major (albeit sorta misleading) spoiler in regard to the ending:

It can be compared to a man with MDD (multiple personality disorder). Euphemistically (that's not even a word, is it?), Hee-So has fallen in love with the man's wrong/secondary personality -- the identity that is drastically different from the man's genuine consciousness. And if the man has surgery, which (again euphemistically) the love interest obviously does undergo, Hee-So would be left only with the man's original/first self, in which she can see only the barest wisps of the man she fell in love with.

It's not bad, but it isn't that good either. I think she should just move on, though, it does hurt to lose the one you love. Well, that's just my opinon.

Actually, I haven't read the whole thing. Sigh, that's called laziness. But, if it was fully scanlated, I still wouldn't bother. I'm just not interested in it anymore.

I have 8 volumes of 13th Boy and i get upset because they all end with a great ending that makes you want to read more The more I read the more i realized the characters grew older and mature more, I sorta think its weird but to tell you the truth it's really cool! Not only do they grow but the guys get cuter and the girls get prettier. 13th Boy is my favorite book so far because the drawings are awesome, but the best part is the twist Sang Eun Lee incorporates. In the first volume you learn a lot and the end is the most interesting part (for me) The book is a great book, but i read a comment the other day on "www.bebexiushoujo.blogspot.com" (you can read volumes 1-4) and i also have been thinking about it but I'm still not sure......Anonymous said...

thanks for the volumes.. this story tells about the flash back from hee-so point when the boy (her last love) was alive. i think the end of this story is the boy is dead. 🙁 check on the grammar of the story, that use past-tense.

You will find out who Anonymous is talking about in vol.4 I looked back at all the volumes and most of them seem to talk past tense, thought its still unclear I am determined to find out in volumes 9-12.

i've only read 2 volumes but the love square is a cliche in the fact that there's a past between two of the main characters. it's not too bad and perfect for fans of sarasah...there's love, unrequited love, cactus boys-i know, crazy right? if u like a shojo with more twists than a twizzler, this is perfect for you!
