I bought it from him like this:
Made many, many changes to it and it ended up like this for a while:
Several changes later it looked like this:
Then I decided to do a frame up since the cab was rusty:
Bought a mostly rust free 1989 Crew Cab and started the very long process of making everything perfect:
All body parts were removed and had extensive body work and paint work done inside and out:
It's close to being done, but we still have a long ways to go since now we have all the little things to do:
454BBC, TH400, NP205, D60/14B, 8" Superlift in front & 4" Rough Country with 4" blocks in rear. #1 · Jan 14, 2010 This is how it looked when the guy who I bought it from bought it:

I went from 2" Rancho lift to 4" Rough Country lift to 6" Rough Country lift to finally stopping at 8" Superlift lift. :dunno: Eventually I bought another 1-ton and took the D60 out of it for my truck:
Here's a pic of how a fork lift should be used to lift a vehicle:
Converted the manual to auto, added a tilt wheel and upgraded the gauges in the dash:
I can't wait to get it back together. #3 · Jan 15, 2010 lookin good man #4 · Jan 15, 2010 Looks good. I've always wanted to build an '80s crew cab 4x4, but turn it into a short bed with a modern diesel drivetrain and some other creature comforts, yet have it appear fairly stock. :bigthumb: #5 · Jan 15, 2010 always loved those old crew cabs. Looking good though. #6 · Jan 15, 2010 I love crew cabs, that is quite the build you have goin on. Cant wait to see it done. What are your plans for the truck? #7 · Jan 23, 2010 Awesome! Love old 73-91 C/K's!! I wanna get a crew cab like that and do a Cummins Conversion and have a nice DD/Family rig without a freaking truck payment! BTW, what is the name of that color orange? #8 · Jan 23, 2010 Got Smoke? said: Awesome! Love old 73-91 C/K's!! It is close to hugger orange IMO but I am told there is a difference???[hr] Sorry if I'm messing up the posts. Not used to this forum layout yet... :dunno: #11 · Sep 2, 2011 Did you ever finish? Don't know how to use this very well. I love the truck I'm working on mine it gave me lots of inspiration. #12 · Sep 2, 2011Got Smoke? said: Awesome! Love old 73-91 C/K's!! Not used to this forum layout yet... :dunno: Click to expand...yes that is a gto judge color, it was the most common one, these days most people hunt for the orbit orange judge which is more like yellow that dmax is cool and all but the 73-87 body crew i think is cooler and you dont see nearly as many, much less a built one. i'm curious, why did you have to swap in a d60, when it should have had one in the first place, all 4wd crew from 77-91 had the d60 up front. #15 · Sep 6, 2011 the previouse owner removed it, it was written in one of the post before. looks like a nice build. Jason. #16 · Sep 8, 2011 Wow sorry to hear that, it was looking good... Any plans to restart?
