[report] [news]Monday 1st August 2011quotequote all Here is a lap on the Nurburgring in a 1M following an M3 CSL which was a track day car. CSL had cups coil over suspension roll cage etc. The 1M was original off factory. Driven in M modus and DSC off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPXDz72MdaE

[report] [news]Monday 1st August 2011quotequote all Good video, but the CSL does seem to be on the brakes an awful lot. There are some sections where the CSL really does seem to show the 1M a clean pair of heels before getting overly friendly with the brakes.Switch drivers, and you'd get a very different story I'd imagine.

[report] [news]Monday 1st August 2011quotequote all Pretty close. CSL only started pulling away on the long straights, and then not that much. Capable cars them 1Ms

[report] [news]Monday 1st August 2011quotequote all I love the fact that from inside the 1M, the CSL is way louder than the 1M itself. The 1M obviously has some decent torque, as he hardly changes gear, seems to be just using 3rd and 4th where the CSL is needing 2nd.Edited by outnumbered on Monday 1st August 22:23

[report] [news]Monday 1st August 2011quotequote all Great lap for a standard car. Still understeers like a pig...CSL driver spent an awful lot of time on the brakes, some very wrong lines in a couple of places tooBiggest difference between the two cars - the CSL will go and do another 5 laps on the trot. The 1M will not...No doubt though, a 1M with tyres and decent suspension/geo will be a weapon

[report] [news]Monday 1st August 2011quotequote all Great lap, shows just how hard you have to go to get near 8 min btg. I'm sure I've seen the driver in a few other ring vids - he's a very handy wheelman.

[report] [news]Tuesday 2nd August 2011quotequote all Doesn't look like a CSL to me. Colour is wrong (could be wrapped though) and so is the boot lid. The rear lip is insufficiently pronounced. Looks more like a stuck on spoiler nerd

[report] [news]Tuesday 2nd August 2011quotequote all Pretty decent lap i thought - the guy in the E46 is braking long and light, not short and hard, but the 1M is still right with him regardless...

Either way I'm impressed by 1M and it's pilot.

[report] [news]Tuesday 2nd August 2011quotequote all roofer said: Why's that then? Because you can see that the 1m understeered like a pig in a few places and by lap 3 if he is on road tyres with the original geo the fronts would have definitely gone off. I also wonder whether BMW have resolved the cooling problems which were experienced by the Z4 guys and also if the 1M was on standard brakes, which were not as good as the CSL ones...
