just4hrsepowr J I've been trying to find a way to bypass or reset the immobilizer in this 2001 VW Jetta 2.0, and haven't found too much. Hopefully, by posting this, I'll find the help I need. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Dec 27, 2021 (Edited) I am assuming that the car starts, then shuts off after a few seconds, and the immobilizer light flashes on the dashboard. I had a 2001 Jettta 1.9 TDI and had it happen intermittently every few years. The first time I had to have it towed to the dealer who charged me many $$ ... I had no idea what he did. After some research in forums, I found that if I left the key in the ignition (for 10-15 minutes) with all electrical ON when the engine was shut off by the immobilizer, the immobilizer light would go off eventually and all would be back to normal, the car would start and keep running. It worked every time, never needed to bypass the immobilizer. It is important not to cycle the key once the immobilizer shuts the engine off. Just leave it with all electrical ON & immo light flashing on the instrument panel. #3 · Dec 30, 2021 That is worth remembering, just in case #4 · Jan 2, 2022 I’ve heard locking everything up with the fob then using the key to unlock the door tells the computer it’s the right key.
