NotMyRide N Hey all, I just swapped out my wife’s alternator last night using a write up I found here and the popular YouTube video. Anyway, one of the worst parts of the job is removing the throttle body, or really reinstalling the damn thing. So I was trying to figure out how not to do this. Long story short, if you have someone hold the air box as far left as possible (you get a fraction of an inch more room with someone holding it over rather than just sliding it over and leaving it there) you have enough room to wiggle the old alternator out and slide the new one in! Just thought I’d share to help the next victim curse a little less. I followed this guys invaluable video on youtube here The one thing I did differently (& I would recommend that anyone taking on this job do this) is that I removed all the ancillaries before jacking the car up. I kid you not, I had to get truly medieval on the airbox to unfasten it from the engine. I wouldn't like doing that with the car on axle stands Insert Quotes Post Reply
