#1 · Feb 10, 2017 Hi I have a problem with my 2010 meriva 1.7 diesel auto it's not the model with the warranty recall for the steering fault Initially the power steering just stopped working I turned the ignition on and a notice came up on the dash stating service power steering with a yellow steering wheel emblem on the speedo I called the aa the guy found some fault codes C0480 power steering motor malfunction C0480 power steering motor malfunction C056D control unit malfunction U0073 can data bus a Can bus off This is what the screen on the computer looked like with c0480 twice I contacted my warranty company who had me book it into a local garage where they fitted a reconditioned motor when the car was put back together the fault was still present so they fitted another recon motor this time the fault cleared but the car now pulls to the left and the steering wheel vibrates this lasted for two days then the steering shut down again sometimes I start the car it runs fine with no issues other times I have the message on the dash and no power steering same as before the new motor was fitted I called the aa again this time the fault codes was co480 component sticking error sporadic error present I was advised to take the car to a vauxhall dealer and have it checked they came back with the same code co480 they told me I would need to leave the car for athe least a day to do a thorough check at £67 per hour I contacted vauxhall who told me that the fault code c0480 does not exist and that as my car is out of manufa:(cturers warranty it is not thier problem Does any one here have any idea as to what is wrong with my car as I am not getting any help from vauxhall who want me to pay hundreds of pounds with no guarantee the can fix it Sorry about the long story but I thought it would be best to give as much information as possible Thanks Pete See less See more Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Feb 11, 2017 Rather than the cheap hopeful short cut of a recon electric motor , your probably going to have to replace the whole shooting match. My best advice is to talk to the steering experts at ACS Power Steering at Tamworth , their knowledge of EPS , EHPS & HPS steering systems is second to none . They come highly recommend by me after a couple of visits to their base , what surprised was the number of EPS for all makes of cars they stocked , racks upon racks of EPS systems . #3 · Feb 12, 2017 Thanks Fred I will give them a try so far you have been more help than my warranty company my local garage and vauxhall uk combined Cheers Pete 0 Reply #4 · Feb 17, 2017

I called the place in Tamworth last week and they put me on to a place in Glasgow The Glasgow power steering centre I spoke to a man called John who asked me to bring my car in to have it checked it was there for less than ten minutes when he told me that the power steering motor was faulty I advised him that it was a recon unit that was only fitted in January he told me he doesn't know of anyone who can recon these units and he deals with people all over Europe I got on to my warranty company who wanted to fit another recon unit I told them I wanted a new motor this time as the last two recon units failed within 24 hours of being fitted they said I could only have a new unit if I paid the difference I agreed to this and it turns out glasgow power steering centre can supply and fit a brand new power steering motor for almost £300 less than my warranty company paid for a recon unit Needless to say I now have a brand new power steering motor fitted in my car and it works perfectly Thanks Fred for your advice and to John and his team at Glasgow power steering services for fixing my car Cheers Pete #5 · Feb 17, 2017

Glad your hopefully going to be sorted . Like i said ACS know their steering & obviously knew that Glasgow did as well. Always nice to know other firms who can recommend someone else with confidence. :) 0 Reply This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread.
