I'm completely sick of my Clio 200 cup for various reasons, and would like a little more luxury with a potential sacrifice in performance and general 'hardcore' attitude. I've been looking at the new Polo GTi (online only obviously, as it's not out yet), and it looks very appealing.Theoretically I'd use the Clio as deposit plus a bit, and take a PCP (never had one before, always bought cars outright - but with one exception always secondhand and a bit knackered). I realise I might be falling into a keeping up with the Jones' attitude, but sod it, I want a treat. I've got racecars for outright fun, but I want a road car that has some performance and a bit of luxury in terms of the interior. I would seriously consider paying the payment at the end of hire to purchase outright, so don't want whatever it's called where you have to hand it back.Any thoughts on the new Polo? I don't need a Golf sized car or bigger, and my advancing age tells me I'd like something a little more subtle than the Clio. Any other suggestions (let's say a max of 21k or £250 pcm based on 16k per year for 4 years) welcome...Oh, and I really don't like the look of the Clio EDC or 208 GTi (I've got a 205 anyway to play with). Afraid I'm not keen in the seat, they look a bit too boy racer for my tastes (personal preference, no insult intended!). Polo looks like it will come in at about £240 a month, although you are right, deposit would be much higher poing

Chuck as little as you can get away with down as a deposit on a PCP.Have you considered the 208 GTi? I seriously thought about one and still regret not taking one for a drive.I used CarWow to get a good price guide but my local dealer was cheaper in the end. Poor guy didn't even get gap insurance from me because I bought it online instead for half the price.ETA: oops, missed the bit where you don't like the look of the 208. Mo28

I'd say the Seat is a cracking deal & quite discrete & good looking for what it is, plus decently rapid on the move. Slightly less rubbery plastic than the VAG equivalents is a personal choice, but if 6 month delivery times are correct, it is a killer for many, almost regardless of the cheapness. FlabbyMidgets

I'm not related at all but take a look at TRL on baby bmw.net. Quite rapid, very subtle and has a very nice interior imo lee_erm

The MK8 Fiesta ST. Although it's not out yet. Judging by the ST line model, it's more grown up than its predecessor. The interior is inline with 'premium' brands.I've spent some time in a Polo GTI, it left me cold. DukeDickson

However, proper engine

Why would you pay £250 a month for a polo when you can get a goo gti for less? steve-5snwi

If you intend to buy it at the end of the agreement then don't bother PCPing the car you will pay a lot more interest than you really need to.The Leon cupra would make a much nicer car than the Polo Gti and it doesn't stand out as an in your face hot hatch. nickfrog

OP if you want a Polo sized car and enjoy the low weight of a race car, then can you wait for the new Suzuki Swift Sport ? Based on the current car, it's bound to be very refined yet at 970 kg it's bound to appeal and make the low power (140ps) quite irrelevant. If not I would recommend a Leon Cupra 300. I think it looks invisible. Problem with that though is that lease is the cheapest way to go on those and I understand a lease is not for you...not that I understand you rationale on that front at that kind of money. daemon

2017 Fiesta ST-3, your car as a deposit and a £10K loan over 4 years = approx £240 a month and you'll own the car at the end of it.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... GTIAlex

First person ever to describe the Leon Cupra as boy racer, it usually gets slated for being far to plain looking. Ibiza CupraFabia VRSPolo GTIAudi S1Golf GTIGolf RAudi S3Leon Cupra 300Basically any of the VAG range haha. daemon

Not saying yours isnt value at that price, but the O/P was looking at new, and i was trying to get as close to new as possible but with the likelihood of owning it outright.
