Do you need to sign out of WhatsApp? If you're using WhatsApp on desktop, you can easily log out with a few clicks. However, if you're using the app on Android or iPhone, there is no "Log Out" option. You'll need delete the app's data or the app itself if you no longer want to receive phone calls or texts from the WhatsApp app. This wikiHow will show you how to sign out from WhatsApp on a computer, Android, or iOS device.

Logging Out of WhatsApp: Quick Steps

  • To log out on desktop, go to Settings > Account > Log Out.
  • You can't log out of the mobile app. Instead, you'll need to delete the app and associated data from your device.
  • Before deleting WhatsApp from your mobile device, back up your messages to preserve your chat history.
  • Go to ⋮/Settings > Linked Devices > Log out on your mobile app to log out of active sessions on all your other linked devices.

    • Use this method to sign yourself out of the desktop or web version of WhatsApp when you’re not in front of the computer. You need to be using your primary phone for this to work.[1]

  2. Step 2 Back up your chats. 2 Back up your chats. Because WhatsApp has no built-in Log Out button, you’ll have to uninstall the app to log out. To ensure you don’t lose messages, you'll need to back them up to iCloud first.[6]
    • To back up your data, tap Settings at the bottom-right corner. Tap Chats → Chat Backup → Back Up Now.
