At 3XN, we believe that buildings are more than the sum of their parts and constantly seek to achieve a synthesis of design, function and context. Our buildings are uniquely matched to each project but always seek to combine beauty and meaning by putting people at the center of design. Designing buildings that are light and connected, ensures clarity and well-being for their users. Our work is founded in ongoing research into how buildings reflect and inform human behavior and the environment – this allows us to advance innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. We constantly seek to enhance a sense of community, identity and relationship to others through beautiful and functional spaces. Research is essential to our design and allow us to push the boundaries of aesthetics and functionality. Each project stands on the shoulders of previous work allowing us to constantly evolve and develop our know-how. As we learn from project to project, we apply this learning in new ways to add lasting value to our architecture and our practice. Today our staff is a mix of experienced project architects and talented young design architects from over 20 nationalities. We work on a global scale but take pride in our history and Scandinavian roots bounded by humanistic values. This allow us to re-invent tradition with a clear understanding of some of the most exciting and pressing challenges of the 21st century.

  Contractor selected for Trapholt Museum’s upcoming expansion ⛏️   We’re pleased to share that Kjæhr-Trillingsgaard A/S has been appointed as main contractor for Trapholt’s upcoming expansion. As a local contractor with strong roots in the area, we believe they will bring valuable on-the-ground expertise to the project - something we see as a strength as we move into the next phases together with Trapholt.   The appointment follows a tender process (reverse auction) based on the “most economically advantageous” offer, assessed across scope, quality, and organisation.   Audun Opdal, Senior Partner, 3XN GXN says: “We’re very happy to have found the right contractor for Trapholt.   Lunar New Year is a time for renewal, connection, and shared tradition — values that felt especially present at Sydney Fish Market yesterday. We’re also taking a moment to reflect on the first day of the new Sydney Fish Market, when 40,000 visitors helped launch this new chapter at Blackwattle Bay. The photos from opening day capture the scale of the community response and the energy across the precinct.   Morning light on the harbour. Bikes gathering outside the old gunboat shed. Coffee in the canteen. Then the quiet hum of work beginning at the water’s edge on Holmen, Copenhagen…   Our studio lives with the canal: the weather moving across the surface, seasons shifting almost day by day, and that Nordic sense of place that keeps reminding us architecture is never separate from its surroundings. With 3XN and GXN under one roof, ideas move quickly from research to design — from Copenhagen to our studios around the world.   3XN GXN congratulates Andrea Ravn Beirholm on her graduation from the Arkitektskolen Aarhus and on receiving the 3XN GXN travel grant 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫. Her final thesis, 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲, exemplifies the values behind the grant by offering a thoughtful and ambitious architectural response to contemporary crisis scenarios. By reimagining preparedness as an integral part of everyday life through collective housing, shared community functions, and local resource management in a semi-off-grid system, the project demonstrates how architecture can actively shape behaviour, resilience, and social cohesion.
