The last 427 LS7's ended production line usage with the end of the C6 Z06's. Default Are you asking if a C7 with a $31,000 aftermarket engine would be quicker and better on track than a stock Z06? I doubt anyone here has experience with the Katech package, but I would assume the answer is yes. You will lose your GM powertrain warranty and the engine will most likely be louder and rougher with much more lope. The Katech engine will have less low-end torque, you might have an issue with smog checks, and it might add weight to the car. You will end up with a $90,000+ Grand Sport hot rod. IMO a package like this is a good idea if you are building a dedicated track car, like Poor-sha is doing. If you want more HP for a car that spends most of its time on the street a stock Z06, ZR1, or even a ZL1 1LE makes more sense. Another option is an LT1 heads/cam/intake/exhaust/tune package from one of the well-known tuner shops. You could also sell your GS, buy a used Z06, and go for the $12,000 Stage 3 Package (800HP, 800TQ). https://store.katechengines.com/stag...kage-p654.aspx Reply 1 1 harris48cars RussBt View Public Profile Send a private message to RussBt Find More Posts by RussBt Old Dec 31, 2019 | 12:15 PM Share Share Options #17 jcsperson's Avatar jcsperson Team Owner Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 22,542 Likes: 798 From: Hillsborough NC NC Events Coordinator Default I like this package better: Katech Stage II 600 horsepower, 523 lb-ft of torque* Package includes: -Baseline chassis dyno -Halltech air intake system -Katech Torquer LT1 camshaft -VVT limiter -Katech CNC ported heads -Katech competition valve job and hand blending -Katech CNC ported throttle body -MSD intake manifold -Paint MSD intake satin black and remove lettering -Katech AFM delete valley cover -LS7 lifters, lifter trays -PSI valve springs -Katech titanium valve spring retainers -Katech valve spring locators -GM valve seals -Katech C5-R timing chain -GM head bolts -Katech 160F thermostat -Serialized plaque -Installation -Licensing and calibration with HP Tuners (2017+ automatics include TCM unlock/licensing fees) -Chassis dyno tuning -Chassis dyno sheet comparing baseline to finished product -3 year/36,000mi warranty (see About Us page for details) $11,300.68 for Grand Sport 600 hp instead of 465 would really transform that car. Horrible MPG too! Reason they all are going Turbo/Supercharged! You can have your big cubes when the LT4 has more potential and beaks a 1000 hp with mods! Still getting better MPG NA 427 is really thing of the past! If you get on a supercharged or turbo’d car you’re gonna have terrible mileage. The reason they don’t make the big cube engines from the factory is not gas mileage it’s emissions. The reason to go NA big cubes is less weight and better cooling than FI.
