5G Automotive Association (5GAA) is a global cross-industry association for connected and autonomous vehicles which gathers more than 110 companies from the automotive and telecom sectors, including many world class car manufacturers. Our mission is to develop, test and promote communications solutions, initiate their standardization and accelerate their commercial availability and global market penetration to address society’s connected mobility and road safety needs with applications such as autonomous driving, ubiquitous access to services and integration into smart city and intelligent transportation.

  Intersections are a global hotspot for traffic fatalities and injuries. Nearly a quarter of U.S. fatalities occur in these areas, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. 5GAA's new report on the 'InterSafe Service' highlights how infrastructure sensor-sharing and Vehicle-to-Everything communication can enhance safety for all road users, including vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists.   Don't miss the Federal Highway Administration's latest issue of Public Roads, which highlights the exciting advancements in Vehicle-to-Everything (#V2X) technology. This technology allows vehicles to communicate with each other, #pedestrians, #cyclists, and #infrastructure to enhance #roadsafety and efficiency 🚗🚶♂️🚴♀️ The U.S. Department of Transportation has been a pioneer in this field for nearly 30 years. Their new National V2X Deployment Plan sets ambitious goals for the next 12 years, aiming for 50 interoperable V2X deployments by 2036. This plan is a call to action for both public agencies and the private sector to work together for a safer future on our roads.   #TBT Ready to relive 5GAA's demos in Berlin? 🍿🎬 On 24 October, 5GAA and its members showcased advancements in #CV2X technology, aiming to achieve "Vision Zero" for all road users. Attendees witnessed the potential of #5GV2X Direct tech to enable new use cases integrated across multiple automakers, service providers, and mobile network operators with a world-premiere demonstration. They also got to experience ready-to-deploy, interoperable applications increasing awareness of vulnerable road users and emergency vehicles on public roads in central Berlin 📍.   5GAA member BMW Group has been expanding its operations and investments in China and is set to integrate Vehicle-to-Everything (#V2X) technology in its new 5 Series starting January 2025. V2X technology enables real-time data exchange between #vehicles, #infrastructure, and the #cloud, enhancing #roadsafety and #traffic efficiency. This innovation will provide critical safety alerts like Emergency Brake Warning (#EBW) and Intersection Collision Warning (#ICW), contributing to #smarter and #safer transportation networks.
