5G Automotive Association (5GAA) is a global cross-industry association for connected and autonomous vehicles which gathers more than 110 companies from the automotive and telecom sectors, including many world class car manufacturers. Our mission is to develop, test and promote communications solutions, initiate their standardization and accelerate their commercial availability and global market penetration to address society’s connected mobility and road safety needs with applications such as autonomous driving, ubiquitous access to services and integration into smart city and intelligent transportation.

  📢 After years of intense work and service to the 5GAA community, today is Uwe Puetzschler's final day with 5GAA. Throughout his time as 5GAA Vice Chair, Uwe was a pleasure to work with and strove tirelessly toward our goal of developing end-to-end solutions for future mobility and transportation services. Since his election as 5GAA's new Vice Chair earlier in the year, Tim Leinmüller has been doing an excellent job for the association as Uwe's successor in the role. Although we're sad to see Uwe go, we wish him all the best in this new chapter! 🎉

  ⚡ It's almost been a month since 5GAA's Chief Technology Officer Maxime Flament was at EcoMotion Community to lead the workshop 'The Role of Vehicular Connectivity in Advanced Driving Assistance Systems and Automated Driving Systems'. The workshop was a great success, during which Maxime lead 5GAA members and community partners alike in an interactive discussion of how seamless #V2X communication fosters smarter, safer and more efficient transportation. Key takeaways from the discussion included: 🔵 industry consensus must be achieved on mutual trust in V2X 🔵 system designers of ADAS must be educated to include V2X data into their sensing platform 🔵 regulations must be set which follow standard discussions at ISO TC22 and ETSI TC ITS level Read the run-down here: https://lnkd.in/dMVfGc2H

  🔍 Did you miss it? 5GAA recently released a #5GAAPublication on Vehicular Antenna Test Methodology! The rise of connected vehicles and #V2V communication calls for a unified measurement process for communication #antennas, streamlining development and ensuring consistent evaluation across regions. 📶 5GAA has developed a specific methodology for testing vehicular antennas (those permanently mounted on vehicles). This methodology can act as a commonly agreed test procedure for antenna communication subsystems and improve the accuracy of conformity assessment for such critical systems. The resulting technical report aims to provide validation measures that account for each vehicle's unique form factors and characteristics.   🆕 U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration has awarded $60 million in advanced vehicle technology grants to Utah, Texas and Arizona to accelerate new deployments of #V2X technologies and help save lives on US roads. The Federal Highway Administration unveiled the grants yesterday during an event in Salt Lake City, where our Director, Americas John Kwant, represented 5GAA at a stakeholder discussion. Under the scheme 'Saving Lives with #Connectivity: Accelerating V2X Deployment,' the FHWA hopes to advance the full lifesaving potential of V2X communications. At 5GAA we welcome this announcement, which will benefit several of our members, and trust it will accelerate the mass adoption of V2X technology for safer roads and streets across the U.S. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dAV8rSqB
